- a disadvantage of this lamp is that the plastic surface of the flange is accessible through the mounting opening of the reflector for the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the filament. This plastic surface is affected by the infrared radiation emitted by the incandescent filament and additionally by the absorption of the generated light heats and tends to evaporate. In addition, the aforementioned light absorption reduces the efficiency of the headlamp.

- the light-reflecting coating increases the efficiency of the headlamp, since the light striking the plastic surfaces can now be used by the light-reflecting coating for the headlamp reflector.
- the light-reflecting coating is advantageously embodied as an aluminum layer, because it has the same high level of light reflection as the headlight reflector and sufficient adhesion to the plastic base part.
