Abstract
Es soll ein einfacher Aufbau eines Wandlers aus einem Szintillator (1) und einem c-Si-Fotodiodenchip (2) erzielt werden. Der Wandler (1) dient unmittelbar als Träger für den Fotodiodenchip (2), dessen aktive Seite über Kontaktbahnen (5) auf dem Szintillator (1) kontaktiert ist.

Beschreibung
Strahlenelektrischer Wandler
Die Erfindung betrifft einen strahlenelektrischer Wandler mit einem Leuchtstoff, der als Träger für mindestens einen lichtelektrischen Wandler dient, der mit dem Leuchtstoff mechanisch verbunden ist.
In der Röntgentechnik werden strahlenelektrische Wandler benutzt, die einen Leuchtstoff aufweisen, der die absorbierte Röntgenstrahlung in Licht umwandelt, wobei dieses Licht in einem fotosensitiven Wandler mit z. B. einer Fotodiode in ein elektrisches Signal umgewandelt wird. Der gesamte Wandler stellt also einen Detektor für die empfangene Strahlungsintensität dar.
Als Leuchtstoff kann ein Szintillator und als Fotodiode eine c-Si-Fotodiode vorgesehen werden.
Ein Wandler der eingangs genannten Art ist in der DE 30 09 723 AI beschrieben. Über die Art des lichtelektrischen Wandlers und über die elektrische Kontaktierung des lichtelektrischen Wandlers ist nichts ausgesagt.
Außerdem ist in der US 4,734,588 ein Wandler beschrieben, der einen Träger aufweist, auf dem ein Fotodiodenarray samt der zu dessen elektrischer Kontaktierung erforderlichen Elektroden angebracht ist. Mit dem Fotodiodenarray sind den einzel- nen Fotodioden zugeordnete Szintillatoren verklebt. Dabei können die aktiven Seiten der Fotodioden je nach Ausführungsbeispiel dem Szintillator zugewandt oder von diesem abgewandt sein.
Aus Tetsuhiko Takahashi et al . , "Design of Integrated Radiation Detectors with a-Si Photodiodes on Ceramic Scintillators for Use in X-Ray Computed Tomography", IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, Vol. 37, No.3, June 1990, pages 1478-1482, ist es bekannt, daß in strahlenelektrischen Wandlern sowohl c-Si-Fotodioden als auch a-Si-Fotodioden eingesetzt werden können.
Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, einen strahlenelek- trischen Wandler, bestehend aus einem Leuchtstoff und einer Fotodiode, möglichst einfach aufzubauen.
Diese Aufgabe ist erfindungsgemäß gelöst durch die Merkmale des Patentanspruches 1. Bei dem erfindungsgemäßen Wandler dient der Leuchtstoff als Träger für mindestens eine Fotodiode und für die zu deren elektrischer Kontaktierung erforderlichen Kontakte. Ein besonderes Trägermaterial, z.B. ein Substrat oder eine Leiterplatte, kann entfallen.
Weiterbildungen der Erfindung ergeben sich aus den Unteransprüchen.
Die Erfindung ist nachfolgend anhand der Zeichnung näher erläutert. Es zeigen:
Fig. 1 eine Seitenansicht eines strahlenelektrischen Wandlers nach der Erfindung, und
Fig. 2 eine Variante des Wandlers gemäß Figur 1 in einer An- sieht von unten.
In den Fig. 1 und 2 ist ein Leuchtstoff 1, insbesondere ein keramischer Szintillator, gezeigt, der auf seiner Unterseite einen c-Si-Fotodiodenchip 2 trägt. Der Fotodiodenchip 2 ist mit Hilfe eines transparenten Klebers 3 mit dem Leuchtstoff 1
verbunden. Die elektrische Kontaktierung des Fotodiodenchips 2 erfolgt mit Hilfe einer Kontaktschicht 4, die eine leitende Verbindung vom Fotodiodenchip 2 zu Kontakten 5, z.B. aus Gold, herstellt, die auf dem Leuchtstoff 1 aufgedampft sind. Von diesen Kontakten 5 aus, bei denen es sich beispielsweise um Kontaktbahnen handeln kann, erfolgt die weitere elektrische Verbindung in nicht dargestellter Weise mit Hilfe von z.B. Golddrähten.
Die aktive Seite des c-Si-Fotodiodenchips 2, d.h. diejenige Seite, die infolge entsprechender Verfahrensschritte bei der Herstellung, z.B. Diffusionsvorgänge, lichtempfindlich ist, ist dem Leuchtstoff 1 zugewandt. Die Kontaktschicht 4 ist als sogenannter Kontakt-Bump ausgebildet, der elektrisch an die Kontakte 5 kontaktiert ist.
Ein Modul gemäß den Fig. 1 und 2 kann z.B. in der Computertomographie oder in Gepäckscannern in einem Kollimator eingebaut sein. Generell eignet sich aber ein solches Modul für alle Arten von Geräten, in denen Strahlung in elektrische Signale gewandelt wird. In der Figur 1 deuten die Linien 6 Strahlung an, z.B. Röntgenstrahlung.
Der Fotodiodenchip 2 ist von einer Matrix von Fotodioden ge- bildet, wobei die Kontakte 5 in entsprechender Anzahl vorgesehen sind. Im Rahmen der Erfindung ist es auch möglich, in der geschilderten Weise nur eine Fotodiode mit einem Leuchtstoff zu verbinden.
Claims
1. Strahlenelektrischer Wandler mit einem Leuchtstoff (1), der als Träger für mindestens eine c-Si-Fotodiode (2) dient, die mit dem Leuchtstoff (1) mechanisch verbunden ist, wobei die aktive Seite der c-Si-Fotodiode (2) dem Leuchtstoff (1) zugewandt ist und elektrisch mit auf dem Leuchtstoff (1) aufgebrachten Kontakten (5) verbunden ist.
2. Wandler nach Anspruch 1, bei dem die c-Si-Fotodiode (2) mit dem Leuchtstoff (1) durch einen transparenten Kleber (3) verbunden ist.
3. Wandler nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, bei denen ein c-Si-Foto- diodenchip (2) mit einer Vielzahl von c-Si-Fotodioden vorgesehen ist, denen die erforderliche Anzahl von Kontakten (5) auf dem Leuchtstoff (1) zugeordnet ist.
