Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a hand guide arranged to control a switching device via a control tube attached to the switching device at one end, said control tube being attached to the hand guide at the other end, the rotational motion of the control tube being thus produced by means of a control arm provided in the hand guide.
  • a hand guide is a device by means of which the control power and the turning distance or angle required by a switching device mounted for instance on a pole can be converted to be ergonomically suitable.
  • the object of the present invention is to obviate the disadvantages of the known solutions and to provide a new type of solution which efficiently reduces the possibility of vandalism and also facilitates the implementation of remote operation of the switching device .
  • the device of the invention is mainly characterized in that the hand guide comprises a body and a centre connected rotationally thereto, said centre being provided with an upper surface and a bottom and a tubular opening connecting the upper surface and the bottom, said opening being essentially parallel with the control tube, the control arm being thus arranged in the tubular opening provided in the centre in such a manner that it can be inserted into the centre and further inside the control tube.
  • Unauthorized control of a manually controllable switching device is effectively prevented in the hand guide of the invention; however, the control arm can always be used, if necessary, because it cannot be removed without disassembling the hand guide.
  • the switching device is connected to the hand guide, it can also be arranged to be remote controlled. By using the same hand guide of the invention, it is also possible to implement the switching device to be manually controlled only.
  • unauthorized local control of a manual or remote controlled switching device is prevented by locking the control arm at least partly within the control tube.
  • a remote controlled switching device it can also be completely prevented from being controlled with a mechanical or electric locking.
  • the switching device can be easily supplemented with functions, whereby for instance by changing the control angle of the hand guide, it is possible to implement an additional function, for instance earthing.
  • An unintentional earthing (or an additional function) of a switching device provided with a combined earthing means (or with other additional function) by performing a continuous control motion is however prevented by restricting the control motion.
  • control arm is dimensioned in such a manner that it can be inserted into the centre provided in the device and into the control tube connected to the centre.
  • the end of the control arm is thus designed to prevent the control arm from being removed through the bottom of the hand guide.
  • unauthorized use and extraction of the control arm are further prevented by a plate rotationally connected to the device, which plate can be locked by a common padlock to the openings provided in the body of the guide in all the operating positions of the switching device.
  • control arm of the hand guide can thus always be easily brought into use.
  • the manual control can be reliably operated, but the switching device can also be easily implemented to be both remote and manually controlled.
  • the structure of the invention enables a manually operated crank to be disposed in association with the switching device in such a manner that it cannot, however, be easily subjected to vandalism due to the effective locking arrangement thereof .
  • Figure 2 is a longitudinal section of the hand guide, taken along the line A - A indicated in Figure 1,
  • Figure 3 shows the centre of the hand guide as a top view
  • Figure 4 is a cross section of the centre of the hand guide, taken along the line B - B indicated in Figure 3
  • Figure 5 is a cross section of the centre of the hand guide, taken along the line C - C indicated in Figure 3.
  • FIGS 1 and 2 show an embodiment of the hand guide 1 of the invention.
  • a hand guide of this type comprises a body 2, and a centre 3 and a platelike means 4 connected rotationally thereto. Furthermore, it comprises a control arm 5 arranged at the centre 3, and an articulated arm 6 supporting the platelike means.
  • a switching device located for instance at a pole is controlled as regards the switching states thereof, for instance in connecting the device to a phase, to zero, or to ground.
  • a control tube 7 is connected thereto, said control tube forwarding the rotational motion by means of which the changing of the switching state of the switching device is carried out.
  • the control tube 7 is connected to the hand guide for instance by inserting the control tube into the tubular centre 3, the control tube being thus connected to detent pins 9 and 10 provided on the inner wall 8 of the centre via slots 11 and 12 provided in the control tube 7. It is also possible to mount the control tube 7 on the outside of the centre 3 or to connect it thereto in other ways, for instance with pins or grooves.
  • the centre 3 according to Figures 3 - 5 is provided with an upper surface 13 and a bottom 14, between which is a tubular opening 15. Over its part between the lower surface 16 of the control tube 7 mounted in the centre and the centre bottom 14, this opening is shaped to be such, for instance conical, that while being released, the control arm 5 is always directed to the bottom 14 of the centre 3.
  • the control arm of the hand guide of the invention is dimensioned in such a manner that it can be inserted into the opening 15 of the centre 3 and further into the control tube 7 connected to the centre.
  • the end 17 of the control arm 5, said end facing the control tube, is also shaped to prevent the control arm from being removed through the bottom of the centre of the hand guide by providing the end 17 for instance with shoulders 18, 19.
  • the bottom 14 can also be provided with a flange 20 to lock the control arm to the centre 3. While the control arm is in its operating position at the bottom 14 of the centre, the end 17 of the control arm 5, said end facing the control tube, is located in the vicinity of notches 21, 22 provided in the wall of the centre. These notches extend from the bottom 14, enabling the control arm 5 disposed in the centre 3 to be turned in two opposite directions, to a position essentially at right angles to the middle axis of the tubular opening 15 of the centre.
  • the switching state of the switching device can be changed by turning the control arm 5 to a position essentially at right angles to the middle axis of the tubular opening 15 of the centre, said position being enabled by the notches 21, 22 provided in the centre 3, and then by rotating the control arm around the middle axis of the opening 15 of the centre.
  • the centre 3 and the control tube 7 connected thereto thus also rotate as forced by the control arm 5, the desired change in the switching state thus taking place in the switching device.
  • the continuous rotational motion of the control arm 5 is restricted by positioning means 23, 24, 25 in the body 2 and the centre 3 of the hand guide, said means restricting the rotational motion of the control arm.
  • positioning means 23, 24, 25 in the body 2 and the centre 3 of the hand guide said means restricting the rotational motion of the control arm.
  • the task of the means 23, 24, 25 restricting the rotational motion of the control arm 5 is to ensure that it is possible to rotate the control tube 7 with the control arm no more than a distance required by a single change in the switching position of the switching device at a time. It is thus not possible for instance to rotate the control tube with a single motion of the control arm 5 in such a manner that a shift of the switch from its position enabling the passage of electricity directly into its earthing position would take place in the switching device.
  • the control arm 5 In order to produce such a change in the state of the switch, the control arm 5 must be moved from the notch provided in the bottom 14 of the centre 3 into the notch provided in the inner wall 8 of the centre on the opposite side by turning the control arm around the articulation point produced between the bottom and a shoulder 18, 19 of the control arm during the interval before performing the next rotational movement.
  • the means, such as relays, provided in the switching device thus manage to react to the switching motion produced by the control tube, i.e. a waiting period required in the switching device is produced. Unauthorized extraction and use of the control arm 5 provided in the hand guide 1 of the invention is prevented by means of a rotary platelike means 4 provided in the hand guide .
  • Both the body 2 and the centre 3 as well as the platelike means are provided with a number of locking holes 26 - 31.
  • the platelike means 4 provided with a locking hole and connected to the body by the articulated arm 6 extends under the lower end of the control arm 5 inserted into the control tube 7.
  • the platelike means 4 is turned by means of a locking lever 32 provided therein in such a manner that a catch 33 provided therein, said catch being essentially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the control tube, is taken under the end of the control arm 5, the catch enclosing the control arm inside the control tube and the centre.
  • the platelike means is provided with a hole 30, which can be disposed, in any switching position of the hand guide, in the same line with a hole 26 - 28 provided in the body and a locking hole 31 provided in the centre, it being thus possible to lock these three elements together with a common padlock.
  • the body 2 is provided with a separate locking hole 29 for a remote controlled switching device.
