Abstract

Matériau comportant des filaments, lesquels présentent au moins un enrobage métallique, et chaque filament présentant un diamètre inférieur à 2 νm et une longueur supérieure à 100 νm. Ce matériau est très efficace dans la protection par blindage contre le brouillage électromagnétique (EMI) lorsqu'il est dispersé dans une matrice pour former un matériau composite. Cette matrice est sélectionnée dans le groupe constitué de polymères, de céramiques et d'associations de polymères et de céramiques. Le métal est sélectionné dans le groupe constitué de nickel, de cuivre, de cobalt, d'argent, d'or, d'étain, de zinc, d'alliage à base de nickel, d'alliages à base de cuivre, d'alliages à base de cobalt, d'alliages à base d'argent, d'alliages à base d'or, d'alliages à base d'étain, et d'alliages à base de zinc. De préférence, lesdits filaments comportent des filaments de carbone. L'incorporation de 7 % en vol. de ce matériau à une matrice inapte à assurer la protection anti-EMI permet d'obtenir une plaque composite d'environ 3 mm d'épaisseur qui est apte à assurer la protection anti-EMI à 1-2 GHz, et ce avec une efficacité d'au moins 65 dB. Le procédé de fabrication de ce matériau consiste (i) à fabriquer les filaments de carbone à partir de gaz carbonés, (ii) à éliminer les hydrocarbures polyaromatiques de la surface desdits filaments de carbone, et (iii) à enrober dudit métal lesdits filaments de carbone. Le solvant est de préférence sélectionné dans le groupe constitué d'acétone, de chlorure de méthylène, de toluène et de bisulfure de carbone.
