Abstract
The device according to the present invention consists of a self-driven wheel having the function of temporary assistance in case of breakdown of the vehicle, and that may be applied, if needed, to any wheel hub of the vehicle by means of a flange (8) bolted to said hub and blocked by two pins (7) to the brake couple and comprising an endothermic autonomous motor (1) and all accessories (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16) needed for its working, so as to allow to move the vehicle at low speed.
Description
A traction assistance device which may be applied to the hub of stalled motorvehlcles
The present invention concerns a device that allows the assistance traction of breackdown motor vehicles, that may be applied to one of the wheel hubs.
It is well known that, in case of breackdown of the engine or of the transmission means, a motor vehicle often has no possibility of reaching the workshop and must wait for the road assistance in situations that may be of danger, like on motorways, and of encumbrance for the traffic.
It is the aim of the present invention to completely solve above mentioned inconveniences by means of a new device that may allow a careful removing of the motor vehicle by means of an autonomous energy source that does not depend in any way from the mechanical conditions of the vehicle.
The aim set forth is reached by means of the device according to the present invention, consisting of a self-driven wheel having the function of temporary assistance in case of breackdown of the vehicle, usually kept in the housing of the spare wheel, and that may be used also as such in case of puncturing of one wheel, and that may be applied, if needed, to any
wheel hub of the vehicle by means of a flange bolted to said hub and blocked by two pins that have, as a contast point to the rotation action, the application support of the brake couple, and comprising an endothermic autonomous motor and all accessories needed for its working, so as to allow to move the vehicle at low speed and not leaving it brackdown.
Said pins, consisting of two parts of which one with a bolt and the other one with a threading for said bolt, pass through said flange and project, outwardly turned, from the two sides for the connection with joints for adaptation to the brake couple of the different models.
It is evident that the stress onto the couple is less than in normal working conditions, as the driving couple offered by the motor inserted in said device is smaller than the braking couple, to which the supports of the couple are proportioned.
The only part which is now left free to rotate is the rim carrying the tyre.
On the tyre-carrying rim, nearby the rotating bearing, a toothed wheel with straight teeth is provided.
Onto such toothed crown the application takes place through an exchange of the power requested for bringing the vehicle to the maximum requested speed.
Furthermore , the exchange allows to adapt the couple of the motor to the one requested for overcoming conservative and di spersing re si stance s , characteristic of motion in variable conditions.
The thermic motor is mounted astride of the f lange : for what concerns the carter and for the head of the cylinder said flange will be appropriately pierced.
The motor fixed in that way projects from the flange of four centimeters on each side .
On the opposite side of the flange, i . e . on the other side of the motor, the ignition device and the starting motor are provided . On the further wide f lange portion the carburettor, the silencer , the generator , the rechargeable battery and the mixture tank are housed.
A plurality of plastic protection bosses cover the whole , supporting a blinking light for each side for showing the emergency. Electronic servo-controls allow the operating of the starting motor and the gradual
opening of the carburettor's butterfly valve as well as the movement of the speed change and the starter.
The present invention will be shown more in detail hereinbelow according to the enclosed drawings in which one prefered embodiment is shown.
Figures 1 and 2 show two lateral views of a device for the assistance traction that may be applied to hubs of breakdown motor vehicles.
Figure 3 shows a section F-F.
Figure 4 show an axonometric and square section view of a complete wheel, provided with the device according to the precedent claims.
The figures show a device for the assistance traction that may be applied to the hubs of breakdown motor vehicles, comprising:
- a motor 1, with a chain or belt transmission or of other kind;
- a clutch 2,
- a reduction gear 3,
- a pinion 4,
- silencer 5,
- a dry battery 6,
- a plurality of blocking pins 7 , for making the flange out of one piece with the brake couple, for the push reaction to the action of the wheel,
- a f lange 8 bolted with bolts 15 to the hub and blocked, by means of said pins 7 , to the brake couple,
- a fuel tank 9,
- a blinking light 10,
- a cage 11 for rolls, needles or balls,
- a tyre 12, preferably filled with pressure-expanded silicone or other fine and porous material,
- a carburettor 13,
- a starting motor 14, provided with a manual switch for the ignition onto the same device, or operated with a portable radio control from inside the vehicle,
- a rack 16 for the final transmission between said flange 8 and the rim 17, with interposition of the pinion 4.
