Abstract
A stepladder having foldable steps that may be used as work surfaces. A variable-height parallelepiped system formed by two side support rails and two side pivot rails, as well as by the steps and their respective interconnecting pivot pins, enables said support rails to be folded together. Except for the lowermost and uppermost steps, which connect the front side rails to the rear side rails, the steps of said stepladder are mounted on pivot pins and can be folded away when not in use to leave a substantial free space.
Description
ESCABEAU A MARCHES RABATTABLES
STEPLADDER WITH FOLDING STEPS
The present invention relates to a stepladder with folding steps. There are already many types of double ladder, but these ladders have fixed, shallow and impractical steps.
The use of double ladders is restricted by a lack of clearance.
There are cases where the steps are large and the clearance is good, but this is aouuis due to an exaggerated extension of the ladder.
The present invention relates to a stepladder with folding steps consisting of a structure of 4 uprights with variable geometry, and 2 struts.
The two pairs of uprights are linked together at the level of the last step by this one and its pit had and rear axles, and at the level of the first step by this one and its front and rear pivot axles.
At their base, the front uprights are fixed on a profile used to create an extra width respecting the construction standards for ladders, under this profile are fixed flexible feet, at their top the front uprights are linked by a welded profile between them, used to adjust their spacing.
They have openings at the level of the first and last step canopies which house the front pivot axes of these two steps; and equidistant between these axes, holes are also drilled to be able to fix the support pieces of the 2,3,4 and 5th steps; moreover the part regulating the spacing and slppcrtant the pivot axis of the struts is fixed between the 5th and 6th step.
The rear montariLs are linked together at their base and below the last step by profiles used to maintain their spacing. On the rear uprights, there are holes where the pivot axes of the steps are housed as well as the stops, and the stop axis regulating the opening at 65 is located between the 4th and 5th step. The pivot uprights have synthetic material feet.
As in all types of double ladder, two uprights serving as struts are fixed at their upper end to the front support uprights by means of pivot pins which are housed in the protrusions available on the front uprights, and they are held equidistant by flats fixed crosswise against them, they also have feet in synthetic material. When the ladder is opened at 650, these two struts are stopped at 750 by the stop pins, these stop pins slide in the grooves inside the struts, come up against and snap into place slots provided for this purpose, to block the entire articulated system.
In the working position, the profiled steps rest on supports fixed against the front uprights. To create a clearance space, the 2, 3, 4 and 5th steps pivot on pins placed on the rear uprights and will rest against the end stops also fixed to the rear uprights.
The steps have a depth less than the difference in level between two steps when opening at 65 .
The accompanying drawings show, by way of non-limiting examples, embodiments of this stepladder ladder.
fig. 1 represents an elevation of the stepladder seen from the side, with an angle of 650 for the edlelle and 750 pwr for the struts.
fig. 2 represents a vertical section at the axis of the steps, with the same opening as for figure 1.
fig. 3 shows an elevation of the stepladder ladder seen from the front.
fig. 4 represents the stepladder edlelle seen from above.
the figs. 5, 6 and 7 are mistletoe diagrams representing the mainère whose stepladder folds and fig. 8 is a view of the step from below.
fig. 9 is a perspective view of all usable steps.
fig. 10 is seen in perspective with the 4th and 5th steps folded down.
The edlelle represented in figs. 1 to 9 shows a stepladder with four uprights and two struts, two support uprights 1 and two mntants for pivot 2 . The uprights 1 and the uprights 2 are linked at the level of the last step 3 pir this one and its front and rear pivot axes 4 and 5, as well as at the level of the first nordie 6 and its pivot axes had and rear 7 and 8.
the support uprights 1 are separated at their top by a section 9 which is welded together; at their base they are scudés on another section 10 under which are fixed feet in synthetic material 11.
The pivot uprights are separated by sections 12 which are welded together
In their lower and upper part.
Two struts 13 pivot around axes 14 fixed in the exaroissaices 15 fixed to the support uprights 1 and an axis 16 fixed to the pivot monLants 2 under the penultimate step, adjusts the spacing of the struts, this by sliding in the notches 17 located inside the struts, and this same axis makes it possible to block the ladder when the latter is completely open. In addition, flats 24 are welded against the struts 13 to maintain their spacing.
With the exception of the first step 6 and the last step 3, all the steps 18 between them can pivot on the axis 19 located on the rear HiOntants 2, in the working position, these repeent on the supports 20 fixed against the front uprights, once folded down, the steps come to rest against the stops 21 fixed against the rear uprights.
The depth of step 22 is less than the height between two steps 23.
The angle of incidence with the ground of the support and pivot uprights is 650 and that of the struts is 75 .
