Abstract
Appareil endodontique et procédé associé destinés à la détection instantanée de la structure anatomique d'une dent et à la réparation d'une dent morte ou gravement cariée à l'aide de la spectroscopie fluorescente. Une sonde de canal radiculaire dotée en son centre d'une fibre optique transmet une lumière d'excitation dans le canal radiculaire de la dent. La lumière d'excitation induit la fluorescence des tissus situés dans le canal radiculaire. La lumière fluorescente est recueillie par la fibre optique et retransmise à un détecteur qui produit des signaux électriques indiquant l'intensité de lumière dans des bandes de longueur d'ondes prédét.rminées. Les signaux électriques sont traités en vue d'identifier les tissus dans le canal radiculaire. Ladite sonde peut inclure une surface métallique légèrement conique dotée de cannelures destinées à prélever et à enlever de la dentine de l'intérieur du canal radiculaire. On peut localiser l'entrée du canal radiculaire en utilisant les propriétés d'émission de fluorescence des tissus des parties composantes d'une dent. Le canal radiculaire est nettoyé et façonné et l'apex dudit canal radiculaire est localisé sur la base de la différence entre le spectre de fluorescence de l'apex et celui du canal radiculaire. Le canal radiculaire est obturé et rempli à l'aide d'un matériau de restauration photopolymérisable appliqué dans le canal radiculaire par l'intermédiaire d'un tube. Ledit matériau de restauration photopolymérisable est activé par de la lumière transmise dans le canal radiculaire par une fibre optique. On peut réguler l'activation par la lumière et la polymérisation du matériau de restauration photopolymérisable en contrôlant l'intensité du spectre de fluorescence dudit matériau de restauration.
