Abstract
The invention relates to a box element system for replacing sanitary facilities with temporary facilities in connection with construction works. The box element system includes a number of sanitary box elements or cubicles (2, 3) which are temporarily located inside or outside a building under renovation or construction such that each apartment (1), which is to be fitted with a sanitary cubicle, has a direct access to at least one such sanitary cubicle (2, 3), and that the electric wirings, water and sewer pipes, and air-conditioning ducts (7) included in the sanitary cubicles (2, 3) are mostly adapted to extend outside the building.

Box element system for replacing sanitary facilities with temporary facilities in connection with construction works.
The present invention relates to a box element system for replacing sanitary facilities with tremporary facilities in connection with construction works.
The sanitary facilities generally refer to toilet, bathroom and kitchen facilities. However, other applications are possible with different interior fittings.
In connection with plumbing repairs in a building, whereby it is necessary to shut down the apartments' own plumbing lines, as well as in connection with repairs possibly conducted in toilet and bathroom facilities and in kitchen, the occupant is not able to use these facilities and it is necessary to provide various temporary solutions or the occupant is even forced to move temporarily out of the apartment.
An object of the invention is to provide a box element system facilitating the avove type of repair jobs without forcing the occupant to move out of the apartment for the duration of a repair work or without forcing the occupant to use facilities completely separated from the apartment. It is also beneficial in terms of the progress of a repair work that the facilities being repaired are used by the working site only.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in a manner that and a box element system of the invention is characterized in that the box element system includes a number of sanitary box elements or cubicles which are temporarily located inside or outside a building under renovation or construction such that each apartment, which is to be fitted with a sanitary cubicle, has a direct access to at least one such sanitary cubicle, and that the electric wirings, water and sewer pipes,

and air-conditioning ducts included in the sanitary cubicles are mostly adapted to extend outside the building.
A box element system of the invention can be used by the occupants of an apartment being renovated but just as well a box element included in a box element system of the invention can be used as a sanitary cubicle included in the social facilities of a working site whenever the object of work is located on the upper floors and corresponding facilities are not available within the working site.
In one preferred embodiment of the invention, the system is such that the sanitary cubicles are fitted on top of each other outside the building, and .that the system includes an adjustable framework for adjusting each sanitary cubicle to a desired level. The sanitary cubicles are preferably installed in line with openings, such as windows or balconies, already existing in the building and a passage into a sanitary cubicle is provided through such opening or balcony. This can be readily achieved by virtue of said adjustable framework.
Other preferred developments of the invention are set forth in the sub-claims as well as in the following specification, wherein the invention will be described in more detail by way of an example with reference made to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 shows a box element system according to one embodiment of the invention fitted in position adjacent the outer wall of a building under renovation.
Fig. 2 shows a section along a line II-II in fig. 1.

Fig. 4 shows a vertical section of a building under renovation, the sanitary cubicles according to a second embodiment of the invention being intalled inside.
Fig. 4a is a plan view of the sanitary cubicle shown in fig. 4.
A box element system of the invention is used for replacing the sanitary facilities, such as toilet, bathroom and kitchen facilities of apartments under renovation with equivalent temporary facilities for each apartment for the duration of repair work. In the example shown in fig. 1, three such sanitary box elements or cubicles 2 are mounted on top of each other outside a building to be renovated as close as possible to its outer wall 9. Each apartment, which is to be fitted with with a sanitary cubicle 2, has a direct access into such sanitary cubicle for example by way of a window or a balcony included in the building. Sewage water is delivered from the sanitary cubicles 2 by way of a temporary drain system into the sewage or a separate drain tank 4. The power and water supply in sanitary cubicles 2 is also organized in a manner that there will be no interruptions during the course of building renovation work.
If necessary, the sanitary cubicles can also be provided with mechanical ventilation.

The actual sanitary cubicles 2 are lightweight, profile- steel or aluminium structured, readily liftable and transportable modules that can be assembled on top of each other. An adjustable mechanism can be used for fixing the vertical position of the modules according to the facade and floor height of a building. The module has its outer walls made of plastic-coated thin sheet steel. The inner surfaces of the walls are either made of plastic-coated thin sheet steel or plastic modular structures. The intermediate walls can e.g. be made of a laminate and the floor surfaces can be coated with a plastic mat.
In figs. 1 and 2, the sanitary cubicle 2 is of a triangular design and installed with respect to a building under renovation in such a manner that one side of the triangle is parallel to an outer building wall 9 and as close to it as possible. The passage into sanitary cubicle 2 occurs e.g. by way of a window 10, as best shown in fig. 3. The passage is acilitated by the provision of a temporary ladder 11.
Fig. 2 shows a horizontal section of the sanitary cubicle 2 along a line II-II in fig. 1 and the example shown in this figure about the layout of sanitary cubicle 2 includes a kitchen section 12, a toilet 13, a shower 14, and a wash basin 15.
Between the sanitary cubicle 2 and the outer building wall 9 is fitted any type of suitable sealing 16 to surround the passageway. The sealing problem can also be resolved by using various displaceable or pivotable protecting screens (not shown) fastened to the walls of sanitary cubicle 2.
In fig. 1 , • the box element system has its framework generally designated by reference numeral 5. In this example, the framework 5 consists of three frame posts 5'. The frame posts

5 ' are supported by the bottom ends thereof on the ground as required by the present type of soil so as to prevent the depression of posts 5' . In fig. 1, the frame posts 5' are laid upon slabs 8.
In fig. 2, the frame posts 5' of sanitary cubicle 2 are fitted inside said cubicle 2 in the corners. At said cubicle 2 , the frame posts 5' may comprise e.g. tubular beams, which are fastened by any suitable means to the framework of sanitary cubicle 2. This type of tubular beams fastened to the frameworks of cubicle 2 have a length which is approximately equal to the height of sanitary cubicle 2. When setting the sanitary cubicles 2 on top of each other by means of a suitable crane, between the tubular beams of lower and upper cubicle 2 is fitted e.g. a suitable connecting piece (not shown), extending inside the aligned frame posts 5' of both upper and lower cubicle 2. The insaide corners of sanitary cubicle 2 are provided with suitable gates or the like for adjusting and locking said connecting pieces in position, such that the cubicle 2 can be locked at a desired height. If necessary, the cubicles can be mounted with conventional fastening elements on the outer building wall 9.
If, for one reason or another, the sanitary cubicle 2 is not required on all floors, such cubicle 2 can be omitted at desired locations and this particular location can be provided with the framework 5 only.
Fig. 4 discloses a solution with sanitary cubicles 3 fitted inside a building. In this case, the cubicles are structurally different from those 2 described above by being substantially smaller and lighter and such cubicles 2 are preferably designed as dismountable and erectable units for carrying them through standard size doorways to the intended locations. As in the solution shown in figs. 1-3, the electric, water, sewage and

ventilation pipes or lines 7 are also in this case mostly adapted to extend outside the building.
Naturally, there may be considerable variations in the design of such sanitary cubicles 2, 3. Also the framework 5, facilitating the superimposed installation of such cubicles 2, can be designed in many different ways. Naturally, the frame posts 5' can be already adjusted on the ground in such a manner that, when lifted to their locations, the cubicles 2 are set at a desired height and, thus, all that is required is the locking for eliminating the clearances. The framework 5 can also be completely separate, e.g. a structure resembling a conventional scaffold, whereby the cubicles 2 are lifted to desired levels.

Claims
1. A box element system for replacing sanitary facilities with tremporary facilities in connection with construction works, c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that the box element system includes a number of sanitary box elements or cubicles (2, 3) which are temporarily located inside or outside a building under renovation or construction such that each apartment (1), which is to be fitted with a sanitary cubicle, has a direct access to at least one such sanitary cubicle (2, 3), and that the electric wirings, water and sewer pipes, and air-conditio¬ ning ducts (7) included in the sanitary cubicles (2, 3) are mostly adapted to extend outside the building.
2. A system as set forth in claim 1, c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that the sanitary cubicles (2) are fitted on top of each other outside the building, and that the system includes an adjustable framework (5) for adjusting each sanitary cubicle to a desired level.
3. A system as set forth in claim 2, c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that the framework (5) is fitted outside the sanitary cubicles (2) .
4. A system as set forth in claim 2, c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that the framework (5) is fitted at least partially inside the sanitary cubicles (2).
5. A system as set forth in claim 4, c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that the framework (5) is adapted to be adjustable from inside the sanitary cubicle (2).
6. A system as set forth in any of claims 1-5, c h a r a c ¬ t e r i z e d in that the sanitary cubicle (2) is fitted in alignment with an opening (6), such as a window or a balcony,
SUBSTITUTE SHEET already existing in a building, and that a passage into the sanitary cubicle (2) is provided by way of said balcony or opening (6) .
7. A system as set forth in any of claims 1-6, c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that the sanitary cubicles (2, 3) are adapted to be lifted into the position by means of an external hoisting mechanism.
