Definitions
- the invention relates to a bolt or mat cutter, as is used, for example, in the building trade to cut thicker reinforcement bars or iron of a reinforcement mat.
- a cutting tool has a cutting head which is designed with regard to its kinematic movement in the form of a conventional pair of scissors with two cutting jaws which end in two arms via a joint joint. These two arms are connected to two handle bars via a respective articulated connection. These two handle bars are in turn articulated to one another in the area of the cutting head. When the handle bars are actuated, a very large force can be transmitted to the cutting jaws as a result of a favorable lever transmission.
- bolt cutters only differ from mat cutters in the alignment of their cutting jaws.
- the cutting jaws are aligned approximately in its longitudinal direction, while in the case of the mat cutter they are offset on the cutting head approximately at right angles to this longitudinal orientation.
- the lever ratios are concerned, the bolt cutter does not differ from a mat cutter.
- a bolt cutter is known, the handle bars of which are designed to be mutually curved in direct connection to the joint joint. It is thereby achieved that the cutting head can be lowered deeper into a reinforcement cage when the handle bars are open, than is the case with bolt cutters that do not have this angle. As a result of the bend, the sections of these handle bars present between the joint of the handle bars and this bend can remain within the clearance profile occupied by the cutting head. As a result, this bolt cutter can be inserted between the reinforcing bars as far as the angulation permits.
- the object of the invention is to specify a bolt or mesh cutter which can be lowered much more deeply between reinforcing bars than the bolt or mesh cutter known in the prior art.
- the bolt or mat cutter known from the prior art is accordingly characterized in that the left handle bar is articulated to the right cheek piece and the right handle bar to the left cheek piece and that the two cheek pieces in the area when the two cheek pieces are open their articulated connection with the two handle bars are spread apart; the region of its Z-shaped bend preferably begins at a distance from the joint of the two handle bars that is greater than twice the length of each of the jaw parts of its cutting head.
- the jaw parts extend approximately 15 to 20 cm in the longitudinal direction thereof.
- the first bending point of the Z-shaped bend with respect to the joint is not less than approximately 30 to 45 cm from the connection point of this handle bar with the connected cutting head.
- FIG. 1 shows an illustration of a mat cutter according to the invention in the open or dash-dotted lines in the closed state
- FIG. 2 shows an enlarged illustration of the front area of the mat cutter according to the invention, which is present in the open state
- FIG. 3 shows a representation corresponding to FIG. 2, but in the closed state of the mat cutter
- Fig. 4 is an illustration of a bolt cutter known in the prior art, and a modification of the same, each in the open state, and
- FIG. 1 shows a mat cutter 10 according to the invention in its open state and drawn in dash-dot lines in its closed state.
- the mat cutter 10 has a left and right handle bar 12, 14, each of which has two opposite turns 16, 18. An approximately straight piece 20 is present between the bends 16, 18. Each of the handle bars 12, 14 has an approximately Z-shaped area 22 in the area of its bend 16, 18. This area 22 causes the handle bars to cross each other in the area of the straight piece 20 when the mat cutter 10 is closed (crossing 21). As a result, the left handle bar 12 comes to the right side and the right handle bar 14 to the left side (FIG. 1).
- the handle bars 12, 14, in the present example at least in the region 23 of their upper ends they are spaced from one another in such a way that the hands of an operator, which include the handle bars 12, 14, cannot touch one another.
- This distance is therefore greater than 10 cm in the present example. However, it has been found that a distance of about 10 cm is sufficient.
- the two handle bars 12, 14 are pivotally connected to one another in a joint 24.
- an extension 26, 28 is present on each handle bar 12, 14.
- a right and left cheek piece 34, 36 are pivotally attached.
- the directions “left” and “right” refer to the illustration 1.
- the right cheek piece 34 is pivotally connected to the attachment 26 via the joint connection 30.
- This approach 26 is integrally connected to the left handle bar 12.
- the left cheek piece 36 is connected to the shoulder 28 and thus to the right handle bar 14 via the articulated connection 32.
- the jaw parts 34, 36 end in a cutting surface 38 and 40, respectively.
- the cutting surface 38 is connected in one piece to the right jaw part 34 and the cutting surface 40 to the left jaw part 36.
- the cutting surface 40 engages from below and the cutting surface 38 from above around a reinforcing bar 42.
- the cutting surfaces 38, 40 are therefore spaced apart, which means that the mat cutter 10 is shown in its open position. It can also be seen that in this open state the jaw parts 34, 36 are spread apart from one another in the region of the articulated connections 30, 32.
- each handle bar 12, 14 is present approximately in a straight line. With the areas 44, the mat cutter 10 can be guided into reinforcement layers 46, 48 lying one below the other. In the open state, the areas of the bends 18 are namely as far apart from one another as corresponds to the maximum distance A of the reinforcement bars 49 from the upper reinforcement layer 48.
- the longitudinal orientation 51 of the cutting head 50 which is formed by the jaw parts 34, 36 with the cutters 38, 40, is approximately half the size of the longitudinal extent 53 of the handle bars 12, 14 corresponds in their areas 44.
- This relatively large length of the regions 44 nevertheless only leads to a relatively small spread (distance A) of the 18, since the areas 44 intersect in the area B between the upper and lower reinforcement layers 48, 46 in the open state.
- both the bends 18 and at the same time the front, lower ends of the projections 26, 28 with the articulated connections 30, 32 are each at a maximum distance from one another. At the same time, this means that the jaw parts 34, 36 are spread to the maximum and the cutting surfaces 38, 40 are also extremely open.
- the handle bars 12, 14 pivot into their state shown in dashed lines.
- the areas 44 no longer cross each other in this closed state of the mat cutter 10, but rather run slightly V-shaped towards one another or upwards. To a certain extent, the turning areas 18 interchange. This makes it possible for the mat cutter 10 to be guided downward by about the dimension B between the upper movement bars of the upper reinforcement bearings 48 both in the open and in the closed state.
- the design of the cutting head 50 is shown enlarged in FIGS. 2 and 3. It can be seen that the - in the drawing - upper cutting surface 38 is part of the jaw part 34 and - in the drawing - the lower cutting surface 40 is part of the other jaw part 36.
- the one baking part 36 is formed in two parts. The two double parts leave a slot between them through which the other jaw part 34 with its cutting surface 38 is passed. The extension of this slot is represented by the distance arrow 56.
- the jaw parts 34, 36 are pivotally connected to one another in the common joint 58. When the two jaw parts 34, 36 are pivoted in the region of their articulated connections 30, 32 in the direction of arrow 57, the two cutting surfaces pivot.
- FIGS. 4, 2 and 5 show a bolt cutter 60 in its configuration known in the prior art and in a modified form 60.1. These bolt cutters also have a left and right handle bar 62, 64, which also have an approximately Z-shaped bend 66. Because of this bend 66, for example, the bolt cutter 60 can only be immersed by the dimension C between the reinforcing bars 49. This immersion dimension C is only half as large as dimension B. The other conditions of the existing reinforcement are comparable to the representation in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3. Dimension A is the same in each case.
- the bolt cutter 60 has a cutting head 68 with left and right jaw parts 70, 72, which end in two cutting surfaces 74, 76. In the state shown in FIG. 4, the bolt cutter 60 is open. The cheek parts 70, 72 are also closed with their upper end parts. In this respect, this cutting head 68 differs from the cutting head 50 of the ' mat cutter 10 according to the invention.
- the dimension C by which this bolt cutter 60 can be passed between reinforcing bars is half as large as that of the mat cutter 10 (dimension B).
