Abstract

Dans un signal vidéo de type 'bande rectangulaire centrale large' où un signal principal est envoyé sur les lignes formant les trois quarts du centre de l'image, de l'information additionnelle de service est transmise aux limites supérieure et inférieure de l'image. Cette information de service inclut les composantes de la chrominance qui assurent une amélioration des détails horizontaux pour les composantes de fréquence verticale jusqu'à une petite proportion du détail vertical porté par le signal principal. A l'encodeur, les composantes de chrominance sont sous-échantillonnées verticalement (16) pour produire une ligne à partir de chaque groupe de six lignes d'entrée et elles sont étirées horizontalement (18) et scindées (20) pour que chaque ligne s'étende sur deux lignes. Au décodeur, les opérations sont inversées par resynchronisation sur une ligne, compression horizontale (42) et interpolation ou super-échantillonnage vertical (44). Le détail additionnel de chrominance peut alors être ajouté (46) aux composantes du signal principal de chrominance pour améliorer le détail horizontal.
