Un método para producir monoetilenglicol (MEG) a partir de una materia prima a base de madera, y donde el método comprende: i) proveer una carga de alimentación a base de madera que se origina de la materia prima a base de madera y que comprende virutas de madera, donde como máximo 5 % en peso de las virutas de madera en la carga de alimentación a base de madera son virutas de madera demasiado gruesas como se especifica por SCAN-CM 40:01, y, someter la carga de alimentación a base de madera al menos a un tratamiento previo para formar una fracción líquida.
