JAMES W. TUFTS, OF MEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESlGN FOR A PAPER- WElGHT.
Specification forming part of Design No. 9,015, dated February 22, 1876; application filed January 13, 1876.
' [Term of Patent 14 years} To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J AMES W. TUFTS, of Medford, in the county of Middiesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Paper- VVeight, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being bad to the accompanying photograph, making part of this specification:
In the photograph, A represents a square pedestal, having a base, I), and cap or cornice c. From this pedestal rises a shaft or column, B, provided with'a base, (I, and a capital, e, the iatter being surmounted by a bust, f, of the Goddess of Liberty. On each of the four sides of the pedestal A is a panel; three of these panels representing, respectively, the Landing of the Pilgrims, the Signing of the Declaration of Independence, and the Battle of Bunker Hill; the fourth panel containing the business advertisement of JAMES W. TUFTS. On the upper surface of the cap 0 are symbols of science, art, agriculture, and commerce, and around the exterior surface of the-column B is inscribed the Declaration of Independence, the whole forming a beautiful and ornamental design.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a paper-weight, consisting of the square ornamental pedestal A and shaft or column B, with its inscription, surmounted by the bust f, substantially as shown and described.
