Description

UNITEEA STATES PATENT GEEIGE JOSIAH LE'ICHWOBTH, O F BUFFALO, NEW YORK.-
DESIGN FOR TUG-CLIPS.
Specification forming part of Design No. 6,883, dated September 16, 1873; application led April 28, 1873. [Term of Patent 14 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J osmn LE'roHwoRTH, of the city of Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented a Design for Tugllips, of which the following is a specification My design relates to the shape or configuration of an article of manufacture commonly known as tug-clip, employed in harness for connecting the tugs or traces with the haine-staples.
'Ihe design is fully represented in the aecompanying drawing, in which Figure l is a plan View, and Fig. 2 a side elevation, of a tug-clip.
Like letters designate like parts in each of the gures.
A represents the ring-shaped front part of the tug-clip engaging with the haine-staple,
and B B the iiat ends or jaws which extend therefrom, and between which the front end of the tug or trace is secured by rivets passing through holes b b. The contour of the portion A (looking edgewise at the jaws B B) is formed by two eccentric circles, c d, as clearly shown in Fig. 1, so that the thickness of the portion A diminishes gradually from its middle toward the jaws B B, its thickest portion lying in a line drawn centrally between and parallel with the said jaws. The thinner portions of the ring A are curved outward, soas to form a sharp corner at their junction with the jaws B B, as shown at e, Fig. 2, and the sides of the eye taper toward the jaws, as seen at fg, whereby a neater appearance of the article is produced.
I am aware thattug-clips in which the ringshaped portion A is made of the same thickness throughout have been in common use.
What I claim as my invention is The design for a tugiclip, as herein shown and described.
JOSIAH LETGHWORTH.
