V WITNESSES: I INVENTOR:
BYvJQ /kW ATTORNEYS.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDWARD DAVIDSON, OF WEST DEDHAM, MASSACHUSETTS.
SNAP-HOOK.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 240,670, dated April 26, 1881.
' Application filed February 8,1881. (ModeL) To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD DAVIDSON, of West Dedham, in the county of Norfolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and Improved Snap-Hook, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The invention consists in making a snaphook with the loop on the same side as the hook, folding the end of the strap within it and securing said strap by a screw, as hereinafter described.
Figure l is an elevation of myimprovcd snap-hook attached to the end of a strap, and Fig. 2 is a side view of the same, partly in section.
Similar letters of reference indicate correspondin g parts.
The hook A is cast or otherwise formed of any suitable metal, with the enlarged circular head B, which is ornamented at b, andwit-h the loop 0, which may be provided with the screw-openin g c and screw 0.
The spring-tongue D is riveted to the head 13 by the rivet d.
The hook is secured to the strap E by first 2 doubling the end of the strap a suitable distance upon itself and passing both ends of the strap under the loop, where it is securely held by compression between the loop and the head.
The screw maybe used or not, as desired. 0
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination, with a snap-hook having loop 0 on the same side as the hook, the strap 3 5 E, folded upon itself at the end in loop, and the screw a, passing through loop and fold of strap, as shown and described.
EDWARD DAVIDSON.
