Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE OSBORNE, OF BROOKLYN, ASSIGNOR TO ABRAM G. JENNINGS, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESlGN FOR HAIR-NETS.
Specification forming part of Design No. 6,154, dated September 24, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE OSBORNE, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a Design for Hair-Nets, of which the following is a specification:
The drawing, shows a face view of my new design produced on a warp-machine.
This invention relates to a new design for hair-nets, and more particularly to a new arrangement of the pillars employed therein. The invention consists in the use of double pillars-that is to say, of pillars containing two parallel and contiguous strands of equal kind, which strands are, however, not connected except at the intersections of the several pillars.
The pillars A are represented as they appear (under a magnifying-glass) when made on a warp or lace machine. Each pillar consists of two parallel strands, aand I), of equal kind, but disconnected except at the intersections 0 c of the pillars. The strands a b of the same pillar are to touch each other, and on a net will be in contact with each other and give the exact appearance of one single pillar. The pillars when thus made double will appear larger, lighter, and less contracted than they would if made in one strand of the same number of threads, thus furnishing a full net though using proportionately but little material.
What I claim is-- The design for the (loublestrand net-pillars, as shown and described.
GEORGE OSBORNE.
