Design No. 4,809, dated April l1, 1871.
DESIGN FOR A FOUNTAIN-VASE.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the lame.
We, J ONATHAN MOORE and WILLIAM WILKIN- SON, of Brooklyn, county of Kings, State of New York, have invented and prodnceda new and original Design for Ornaments on Fountains and Vases, of which the following is a specification.
Our design we Ina-y distinguish for convenience by the term Stork and Hag. It is intendedto form an ornamental stem or central support for a. vase or fountain-basin. The general contour is slightly tapering from the bottom upward, with an enlargement et the base and smaller enlargement at the heed. The surface is profusely covered with Hag leaves, and there are seed-heads orcat-oninetals. Conspicuons on each side is a. figure of a, Stork standing erect, with the neck curved, so that the head is close ou the breast, and the wings laid back against the body of the casting. Below and around the foot are shorter flags, with their heads, and a. quantity of lilies and lily leaves. The contours and arrangements of the several members are fully represented in the accom panying drawings, to which reference is made.

Figure 2 is a photographic illustration, giving a fuller View of the complete work.
The work will Ordinarily be made in cast-iron, painted, bronzcd, or otherwise protected; but the design is equally applicable to work in other materials.
'We claim as our invention- The design herein shown, which we may denominate Stork and flag, for ornamentation of fountains and vases.
