DESIGN FOR A NUT-LOCKING WASHER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,299, dated November 19, 1901.

Be it known that I, FRANCIS J. CLIFTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Nut-Locking Washer, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a new and original design for a nut-locking washer, and has for its object to provide a design of this character which shall be both useful and ornamental.

In the drawings, Figure l is a plan view of a nut-lock blank embodying the herein-described design. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view thereof.

Like characters of reference designate corresponding partsin both figures of the drawings.

As clearly indicated in the accompanying drawings, the body 1 of the present nut-locking washer is substantially circular in shape, is flat, and is also free from surface projections upon opposite sides thereof. In the center of the body there is provided a circular opening 2, into which extends a radial projection 3, which is polygonal in shape and has its opposite edges converged toward the center of the body and terminated about midway between the edge of the opening and the center thereof, the outer end of the projection being abrupt and shorter than the inner edge thereof.

From the outer marginal edge of the body extend three projections at, 5, and 6, respectively, which are polygonal in shape and lie in the same plane with the body of the blank. These projections lie upon that half of the body which carries the inner projection 3, and the opposite projections 4 and 6 are disposed at equal intervals with respect to the intermediate projection 5. The intermediate projection lies adjacent to the inner projection 3, is extended in a direction diametrically opposite to said inner projection, and is oblong in shape. The inner edges 7 of the projections 4 and 6, or, in other words, the longitudinal edges which lie next to the intermediate projection 5, are disposed radially with respect to the circular body of the washer, and the outer edges 8 are parallel with said inner edges, thereby forming oblong-shaped projections. The several projections also correspond in length from the center of the plate.

What I claim is-- The design for a nut-locking washer substantially as herein shown and described.
