GEORGE J. CAPEWELL, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FOR A BUTTON-FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,780, dated July 16, 1901.
Application filed April 2, 1901. Serial No. 54,090. Term of patent 14 years.
To aZZ- whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE J OAPEWELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ha rtford, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a certain new and useful Design for a Button- Fastener, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to the design of a fastener for those metallic buttons which are particularly adapted for trousers, overalls, weather-coats, and the like garments.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a View of one side of a fastener that has my design. Fig.
2 is a View of another side of the same fastener, and Fig. 3 is a plan of the fastener.
The material feature of the design is the circular head with the stem that has a circular base, has two opposite sides which taper uniformly from the base to the point, and that has two other sides which extend parallel the full diameter of the base for more than half of the distance from the head to the point and then taper sharply to the point.
The stem 1, that is round where it starts from the circular head 2, tapers gradually toward the point in one plane, as illustrated in Fig. 1, and tapers more abruptly toward the point in a plane at right angles thereto, as illustrated in Fig. 2.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The design for a button-fastener herein shown and described.
GEORGE J. CAPEWELL.
