UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALBERT M. PRICE, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO WILLIAM H.
FAUBER, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A FORK FOR BICYCLE-IS OR LIKE TUBULAR FRAMES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,251, dated September 25, 1900.
Application filed October '7, 1899. Serial No. 732,973- Term of patent 7 years.
To alt whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT M. PRICE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design fora Fork for Bicycle-Frames and Like Tubular Structures, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a fork of the character mentioned made in accordance with my novel design. Fig. 2 is a view looking in the direction at right angles to that of Fig. 1.
As shown in said drawings, the loading or characteristic feature of my design consists of a fork having ornamental figures which partially cover the outer laterally-curved surfaces of the fork-arms and extend from the base of the fork shank on either side thereof to a distance below the curved parts of said forkarms, as shown in the drawings. Said ornamental figures are each widest at its end near the shank, at which place it covers the greater portion of the circumference of the fork-arm and terminates at the outer end in a. sharp point, which is located centrally of the forkarm when seen in side elevation. Said ornamental figure does not taper gradually from the widest to its narrowest parts, but is bounded on each side by three curved lines, which are inwardly concave and meet each other at obtuse outwardly-directed angles, the lines adjacent to the inner and outer ends thereof terminating, respectively, at the forkshank on one end and at the point of the figure on the other, and the intermediate curved lines extending between and being joined to the proximate ends of said firstmentioned lines. Atthe angles where the outer curved lines join the intermediate curved lines are formed laterally directed points or spurs, there being two of such points or spurs on each side, and those on the two sides being located opposite to each other.
I claim as my invention The design for a fork for bicycles and like tubular frames, substantially as herein shown and described.
Signed at Chicago, Illinois, this 21st day of September, A. D. 1899.
ALBERT M. PRICE.
In presence of GERTRUDE BRYCE, WILLIAM L. HALL.
