Description

OR D 269948 DESIGN.
P. H. BRENNAN.
BICYCLE FORK.
No. 26,948. Patented Apr. 20,1897.
Attorney.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
PATRICK II. BRENNAN, OF SYRACUSE, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A BICYCLE-FORK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,948, dated. April 20, 1897.
Application filed April 30, 1896. Serial No. 589,782. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, PATRICK H. BRENNAN, a citizen of, the United States, residing at Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga, in the State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Bicycle-Forks, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying d rawin gs, showing a part thereof.
Figure 1 in the drawings shows the front elevation of the fork, the rear view being substantially the same. Fig. 2 is an enlarged cross-sectional view taken on line no mot Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 a side elevation of the fork.
The general outline of the body of the fork is substantially the same as those commonly used with safety-bicycles and requires no description. I will say, however, that the upper part A,which turns in thehead,is straight, with the usual curved flange unear its lower end forming the ball-bearing, and that the tines B B are curved, tapering toward their lower extremities and fixed at their upper ends to the sides of the upper part below the said flange.
The novelty of the design lies in the peculiar arrangement of the fork connections at the point of juncture of the upper and lower parts thereof. Two cross-bars, circular in outline, are arranged one above the other and extend outward from opposite sides of the lower end of the upper or central part A to the inner upper sides of the tines B B.
The essential feature of this design, whether of the front or rear, consists of a bicycle-fork having a double-ladder-shaped outline at the junction of the tines with the upper or central part.
The parallel round bars extending between the central vertical portion and the Vertical portions on opposite sides of the same create a pleasing and distinctive configuration and appearance to in y bicycle-fork, which insures its being readily distinguished from others by reason of its peculiar outline.
What I claim is The design for a bioyclefork substantially as herein shown and described.
PATRICK II. BRENNAN.
