Patented Apr. 27, 1897.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES S. COPELAND, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE POPE MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A CRANK-SHAFT BRACKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,980, dated April 27, 1897'.
Application filed March 11, 1897. $erial ITO-627,065. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES S. COPELAND, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Hartford, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented anew and original Design for a Crank-Shaft Bracket for Bicycles; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and said drawings constitute part of this specification.
The drawings represent, in Figure l, a plan view of the bracket; in Fig. 2, a View in side elevation looking from the right as the device is shown in Fig. 1; in Fig. 3, a View in side elevation looking from the left as shown in Fig. 1, and in Fig. 4 a perspective view of the device.
My invention relates to a design for a bracket or hanger, such as is united to or forms part'of the frame of a bicycle or tricycle at a somewhat central and lower part of said frame; and said invention consists in the configuration of the structure, as hereinafter described and as shown in the accompanying drawings.
The bracket has a main body portion a, circular in outline when viewed from either end, with a laterally-extending cylindrical part Z), terminating in a distinct portion 0 of decreasing diameter toward its end. On that end of the body part from which the extension 12 projects a cylindrical enlargement d is form ed, the rear or inner walls of which unite with and run into the walls of the body portion a and of the extensions 1). The end of the enlarged part 61 presents a substantially flat surface, through which an opening is formed.
The essential feature of my invention is the cylindrical body part,t ern1inating on one end with the enlargement, as shown.
I claim The design for a crank-shaft bracket for a bicycle-frame, substantially as shown.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JAMES S. COPELAND.
