WILLIAM H. BITTNER, OF BLOOMFIELD, NEW JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO THE CONSOLIDATED SAFETY PIN COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A SAFETY-PIN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,120, dated August 28, 1900.
Application filed June 27,1900. Serial No. 21,850. Term of patent 14 years.
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. BITTNER, a citizen of the United States, residing in Bloomfield, in the county of Essex, State of New Jersey-ghave invented and produced a certain new and original Design fora Safety-Pin, of which the following is a specification, reference beinghad to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.
This invention relates to safety-pins; and it consists in the design therefor shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a side View of a safety-pin which embodies the design, and Fig. 2 is an edge View thereof as seen from above in Fig. 1.
The point member a, the coil 1) at one end, and the hood or shield c at the other end present substantially the usual appearance; but the back member cl, as seen in Fig. 1, presents the appearance of a series of inclined flattened faces 6, with substantially parallel sides and rounded ends, such faces being slightly separated one from another. Said back member when seen in edge View, as shown in Fig. 2, presents the appearance of a series of elongated beadsfiwith their longer axes obliquely disposed. From a point near the end of the back member (I is a shortmember g with flattened face, extended obliquely toward the other side of the hood or shield c.
The characteristic feature of the design is the series of inclined flattened faces 6 with substantially parallel sides.
I claim as my invention- The design for a safety-pin, substantially as shown and described.
