HENRY H. HAYDEN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO HOLMES,
i BOOTH, AND HAYDENS, OF WATERBURY, CONNECTICUT.
Design No. 3,292, dated December 15, 1868.
The Schedule referred to in these Lettere Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom lit may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY H. HAYDEN, ofthe city and State of New York, have invented and made a certain new and original Design for Ornamenting the Surface of the Handles of Forks or Spoons; and I do hereby declare the following to be a correct description of the said design, reference being had to the annexed photographie views, representing, in
Figure 1, the design upon the handle of a spoon, and in Figure 2, the design upon the handle of a fork.
The design of the ornamentation for the handles of forks, spoons, or similar articles of table-furniture, consistsin the peculiar shape and configuration of the ornamental bead-work that runs around near the edge of the handle.
This ornamental bead-work consists of a groove at 1, near the edge of the' handle, then a rounded bead at 2, merging into a shallow broad concave groove, 3,
rising to a low rib at 4, that terminates at right angles,
or nearly so, to the surfa of the handle at 5.
This character of broad shallow ornamental beadwork or moulding follows the contour of the outline of the handle, and has a very neat and massive ornamental appearance.
The section, fig. 3, represents the shape of this ornamental bead or moulding.
What l claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design of the ornamental bead-work or moulding described and represented.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my signature, this day of November, A. D. 1868.
H. H. HAYDEN.
Witnesses:
