W. E. HARPER. DENTAL CABINET. (Application filed Apr. 16, I900.)
NVEN R. B) a W/TNESSES:
c'wez DDR4 'MATT RNEX UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
'WILLIAM E. HARPER, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A DENTAL CABINET.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Design NO. 32,715, dated May 22, 1900. Application flied April 16, 1900! Serial NO- 13,140. Term of patent 7 years,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM E. HARPER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Dental Cabinets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification.
The figure is a perspective View of my cabinet entire.
In the drawing is represented a dentists cabinet consisting in its main essential features of a lower body portion A, containing a series of symmetrically-disposed drawers and closets or compartments, as more particularlyhereinafter described, and an upper body portion B of the same width and substantially the same height, but of only about onehalf the depth of the lower body portion A, said upper body portion also having a series of symmetrically-disposed compartments and a centrally-disposed mirror formed in the back part thereof.
Referring now more particularly to the constituent elements of my new design, a represents the top surface of the lower body portion A, which forthe sake of securinga handsome and ornate effect will be formed of some smooth and highly-polished transparent substance, like plate-glass.
b b are 9. tier of drawers of gradually-increasing depth from top to bottom and centrally disposed with reference to the lower part A of the cabinet. On either side of the drawers 1) and immediately beneath the top a are a pair of drawers 0 c, and immediately beneath these drawers and occupying all the space between them and the plane of the base of the lowest drawer b are a pair of closets or compartmentsd d, closed by a pair of vertically-hinged doors, which open outwardly away from each other, as shown. Beneath the drawers and compartments already mentioned and together occupying the full width of the base of the cabinet are a pair of large drawers 6 e, arranged side by side.
Referring now to the upper and smaller body portion 13 of the cabinet, ff designate a pair of sizable compartments or closets located side by side in its highest part and together occupying the full width of the cabinet and closed by a pair of vertically-hinged doors, which in opening swing outwardly away from each other. Immediately beneath these compartments f f and of the same depth and approximately the same height as the latter, but about only half as Wide, are another pair of compartments g g, also closed by vertically hinged doors, which when opened swing outwardly away from each other. Between the latter compartments and formed in the back of the cabinet is a vertical mirror h.
By way of decoration and to produce an artistic and pleasing effect upon the eye the doors of the compartments 9 g and the fronts of the drawers 6 e are ornamented with scrollwork, as shown. For the same reasons that part of the lower edges of the doors closing the compartments f f which occupies the space directly in front of the mirror It is cut awayon graceful symmetrical curves, and the front surfaces of the said doors, adjacent said curved cut-away parts, are ornamented with symmetrical scrollwork, as shown.
It will of course be understood that the various drawers and compartments hereinabove referred to are utilized as receptacles for the rtpmerous instruments, medicines, supplies, and other appurtenances of a dental oflice.
As will be seen, the leading and essential characteristics of my design are the two body portions in form substantially as shown, one superimposed upon the other, the drawers, compartments, and mirror grouped and arranged therewith and ornamented, all as shown.
Having described my invention, what I claim a? new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,is-
The design for a dental cabinet substantially as shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 12th day of April, 1900.
WILLIAM E. HARPER.
In presence of CLARA G. HARPER. GEO. L. Pour.
