UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MARQUIS D. L. HARTLEY, OF DEHESA, CALIFORNIA.
DESIGN FOR A FRUIT-PICKER.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Design No. 32,489, dated April 10, 1 900. Application filed March '7, 1900. Serial No. 7,739. Term of patent 7 years.
To ctZZ whom it mag concern.-
Be it known that LMAR UIS D. L. HARTLEY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Dehesa, in the county of San Diego and State of California, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Fruit- Picker, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a fruitpicker embodying my design. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section on the line 2 2 of Fig. 3, and Fig. 3 is a eross-section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 2.
lhe leading feature of my design consists in'the fruit-picker having an elongated body concaved on one side transversely and also longitudinally, as at- A, and having an arched cross-band A at about the center on the same side, while on the other side the body has a sharp longitudinal rib A This rib, as shown, is of gradually-reduced width from the center toward the ends, while the body has substantially the same width throughout, and the longitudinal edges A of the body connect under gradual transition with the round end edges A. The curvature of the band A is such that the height of the space inclosed between said band and the concave surface A of the body is less than the width of said space, as shown particularly in Fig. 3. As will be seen in Figs. 1 and 3, the convex edge of the rib A is spaced from the body'A, which has an opening A on that side from which the rib projects.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The design for a fruit picker as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
MARQUIS D. L. HARTLEY. Witnesses:
Trrus M. LoUX, J. H. DODSON.
