UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DESIGN FOR FABRIC.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,572, dated September 26, 1899. Application filed august 24, 1899. Serial No. 728,375. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Beit known that I, ISAAC E. PALMER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Middletown, in the county of Middlesex and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Fabric, of which the following is a specification.
The leading feature of my design consists in-a fabric the transverse threads of which are arranged in a zigzag form to alternately approach and recede from one another and the longitudinal threads of which are arranged in pairs, the members of a pair embracing two of the transverse threads, then after a par tial twist embracing a succeeding two of the transverse threads, and so on, each succeeding pair of, longitudinal threads being arranged to successively embrace one of the transverse threads of each of two succeeding loops in the preceding pair of longitudinal threads.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a face view of one side of the fabric, and Fig. 2 represents a face view of the other side of thejabric.
The group of transversethreads is denoted by A and the alternate threads by a a, which threads are arranged in zigzag form, so as to alternately approach and recede from one another.
The pairs of longitudinal threads are denoted by B, each member of a pair being denoted by b b. The two members I) b of one i pair of longitudinal threads embrace two i transverse threads at a and after a partial turn embrace the next two transverse threads at a, and so on. The threads bl) of the next succeeding pair of longitudinal threads embrace transverse threads a' a, leading from two successive loops in the preceding pair of longitudinal threads.
\Vhat I claim is- The design for a fabric, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as 45 my invention I have signed my name, in presence of two witnesses, this 19th day of August, 1899.
