UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ELLIS A. SOULT, OF FREDONIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A CHECKRElN-HOOK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,440, dated August 22, 1899.
Application filed July 2'7, 1899. Serial No. 725,326. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELLIS A. SOULT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fredonia, in the county of Mercer and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Checkrein-Hook, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to a new and original design for a checkrein-hook; and it has for its object to provide a design of this character which will be both useful and ornamental.
The essential feature of the design resides in a checkrein-hook provided with an arm or post arranged within it and curving upward and rearward over the base of the hook and having its upper portion diverging from the end of the hook.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective View ofa checkrein-hook, showing my new and original design. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates a checkrein-hook having an approximately flat base portion 2, arranged horizontally and extending rearward to a point opposite the upper end 3 of the hook. Within the hook is arranged a curved arm or post 4, rising from the front portion of the base 2 and extending upward and rearward over the same and presenting a front convex face and a rear concave face. The arm or post 4, which is approximately semicircular, is radially curved and is provided with a tapering inner or lower portion. The upper or rear portion of the arm or post curves downward and diverges from the end of the hook, which extends upward.
What I claim is- The design for a checkrein-hook, as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
ELLIS A. SOULT.
