No. 30,240. Patented Feb. 2|, I899.
J. R. UBWIG.
FRAME FOR SEWING CARD PERFURATORS.
(Application filed Nov. 13, 1897.)
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH RALPH ORW'IG, OF DES MOINES, \VA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO E. A. SAYRE, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A FRAME FOR SEWING-CARD PERFORATORS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design N0. 30,240, dated February 21, 1899. Application filed November 13, 1897. Serial No. 668,497. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known I, JOSEPH RALPH ORWIG, of Des Moines, Iowa, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Sewing- 5 Card-Perforator Frames, as set forth in the annexed drawings, forming part hereof.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 shows a side elevation of the frame. Fig. 2 shows a transverse sectional View to through line 2 2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 shows a transverse sectional view through line 3 3 of Fig. 1.
In the accompanying drawings, the frame is seen to comprise a base 10, substantially fiat on its top surface and designed to rest upon a table-top. At the rear end of this base a flat arm 11 projects upwardly and is then curved forwardly at 12 to overlap the base and extend parallel therewith, said part 12 being nearly as long as the base. Extending along the outer central portion of the parts 11 and 12 is a rib 13, the end of which tapers toward the front end of the frame. At the front end of this arm 12 is a head 14, which projects upwardly above the arm and which it joins into the ribs 13. A vertical opening 15 is made through the head, and a transverse opening 16 is also extended through it. On the under surface of the forward end of the arm 12, in vertical alinementwith said head, is one of the leading or essential features of my design-to wit, a downwardly-projecting part 17 of inverted-cone shape and having a vertical opening 18 extending through it and in alinement with the opening 15, the lower end of said part 17 being cut oif abruptly at 19, thereby forming a truncated cone. In the base, immediately below the opening 18, is a vertical opening 20, extending through the base and flared outwardly at its lower end. It is obvious that the parts may be ornamented or engraved in any manner without altering the material features of my design.
I claim as my invention- The design for a frame for sewing-card perforators substantially as herein shown and described.
.1. RALPH ORWIG.
