ROBERT T. BADGLEY, OF NEW ROCHELLE, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A HORSESHOE-PAD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 30,482, dated April 4, 1899.
Application filed March 11, 1899. Serial No. 708,776. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, ROBERT T. BADGLEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Rochelle, in the county of Vvestchester and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Horseshoe-Pads and I do hereby declare the following to be afull, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
The said drawing is a perspective view of the bottom face of the pad upon which the horseshoe rests.
The leading features of my design consist in a thin front portion, a thick rear portion, an openingin the middle shaped like theimprint of a horses foot, a thin fin extending forward from each side of the thickened rear portion, a thick rib extending forward from each side of the thick rear portion between each of the thin fins and the central opening, the said ribs extending forward beyond the said fins and tapering to a point, a perpendicular wall beginning at each side of the pad and extending inwardly parallel with the rear end of the pad and then forward at an angle of forty-five degrees along the outward sides of the thick ribs, thus forminga boundary between the thick portion and the said thin fins.
The pad consists of a horseshoe-backing A, to which is secured the part B, which is thick at the rear portion C and at each of the forward extending ribs D and thin at the fin portion G. The thick portions C and D are seal loped with indentations E and are beveled inwardly to the central opening 0. The rear part of the beveled portion F is convex. The thin fins G terminate backward and inward against the perpendicular walls II. The thick ribs D taper forward to a point and extend forward beyond the thin fins G.
Having fully described my invention, I claim- The design for a horseshoe-pad as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
ROBT. T. BADGLEY.
