DESIGN FOR A HOOF-PAD.
SIPECIFIGATION forming part of Design No. 23,701, dated October 16, 1894.
Application filed July 5 1394- Serial No. 51B|859- Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it nmy concern:
Be it known that I, ARTHUR MOOKFORD, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, residing at \Vestchester, in the county of Westchester, State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Hoof-Pads, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a. plan view of a hoof-pad showing my design and Fig. 2 is a side view of the same.
In the accompanying drawlngs,3 indicates a flat rectangular shaped body, upon which is superimposed a piece 4.
The peculiar shape of piece 4 constitutes the leading feature of my design and it is shaped substantially as follows: The outer surface of this piece 4,is practically fiat with the rear end 5 thereof formed in an unbroken or continuous solid wall which is slightly curved about a vertical axis, as indicated in the plan view, Fig. 1, and is one of the most prominent features of my design.
The sides 6 and 7 are slightly bowed and they diverge from each other in a forward direetion, while the front edge is formed with a rather prominent central projection 8, extending forwardly and tapering uniformly.
This projection is rounded or arched across 30 its length and it has the appearance somewhat of the frog of a horses hoof.
At each side of the base of the central projection 8 is formed a curved depression or groove-like place 9, and between each of these 3 5 depressions and the side edges 6 and 7, of the piece is a flat surface 10. As clearly indicated in the drawings the rear and side walls of this piece are inclined slightly out of the vertical while the entire front wall is com- 40 The design for a hoof-pad substantially as 45 herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand, this 2d day of July, 1894,in the presence of the two subscribing witnesses.
