UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY MANN, OF MILWAUKEE, \VISCONSIN.
DESIGN FOR A HOOP FOR BARRELS, 800.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY MANN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Hoops for Barrels and Analogous Articles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
In the said drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view, and Fig. 2 a partly-sectional side elevation, of a barrehhoop embodying my new design.
My design relates to the new and original shape or configuration of the article.
The leading or essential feature consists in the unitary design for a hoop for barrels or analogous articles made the subject of illustration, comprising a continuous annulus of a nearly-triangular form in cross-section, the inner surface of the annulus being of the greatest transverse length, as shown from a to b, and inclined outwardly from top tobottom, as best shown in section in Fig. 2, while the upper outer snrface forms the shortest line of the triangle between the points aand c, and the lower outer surface between the points (I. and 1) forms a line of intermediate length, the outer surface of the annulus between the points 0 and d being rounded, so that.the said annulus in cross-section does not follow the exact line of an obtuse-angled triangle, though it approximates that form. The top line a of the annulus forms a continuous annular sharp inner edge, everywhere equidistant from the sharp lower edge 1).
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a hoop for barrels and analogous articles, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HENRY MANN.
Witnesses:
11. G. UNDERwoon, N. E. OLIPHANT.
