\VILLIAM OEIILER, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO JOHN BISHOP HALL, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A PATTERN-BOARD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 30,296, dated February 28, 1899.
Application filed January 19, 1899. Serial No. 702,724. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM OEHLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Pattern-Boards, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 represents a plan View of a pattern-board, showing my new design. Fig. 2 is a sectional view taken on the line X X of Fig. 1.
As shown in the drawings, the leading feature of my design consists of a. base or board A, which may be square, rectangular, or other desired shape, having upon its surface a series of blocks B, arranged in rows 1 2 3, and so on, in such manner as to leave spaces 0 between the adjacent edges of said blocks ll.
It will be observed that the blocks 13 are rectangular in form and are thuswise arranged in vertical lines upon the surface of the board A, and the ends of said blocks in one row are arranged in a horizontal line or plane with the edges of the blocks in the next succeeding row so that the spaces 0 in length will be substantially the same length as the blocks 13. It will also be observed that the disposition of the blocks B horizontally is such that spaces D will be left between the side edges thereof and that at the outer rows of said blocks B smaller blocks E are placed, the lower edges of which lie in a horizontal line or plane with the ends of the outermost rows, leaving open spaces F, as shown.
The board A at or near its ends is provided with rails G, the spaces between which and the side edges of the adjacent blocks 13 being
