DESIGN FOR A MILK-JAR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,673, dated November 15, 1898.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES T. NIGHTIN- GALE, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Milk-Jars, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for a milk-jar; and it has for its ob- ,ject to provide a design of this character that shall be both useful and ornamental.
The leading feature of the design resides in a milk-jar provided with right-angular corners and a conical tapered neck portion having within its upper end an inner annular rabbct, saidbody being further provided at one side with a straight continuous longitudinal projection extending the full length thereof and a series of straight parallel short cross projections intersecting the longitudinal projection at direct right angles thereof, the short cross projections on the tapered neck portion of the body being alternately long and short and also closely grouped together on the portion of the neck immediately above the junction thereof with the square part of the body.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a milk-jar embodying the herein-described design. Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates a milk-jar having a square body 2, provided with right-angular corners and a conical tapered neck portion 3. The neck portion 3 of the body is provided at its upper end with an inner annular rabbet 4 and surrounded at its upper edge by an exterior annular bead 5. This exterior annular head 5 is provided with a convexed surface and the lower edge thereof merges into the exterior surface of the conical neck portion.
The body of the jar is further provided at one side with a straight continuous narrow projection extending the full length thereof and with a series of straight parallel cross projections intersecting the longitudinal projection and at direct right angles thereto. On theueck portion of the body the horizon tal or cross projections are alternately long and short and are also more closely grouped together immediately above the juncture of the neck portion with the square part of the body.
