" UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE;
RICHARD ATKINSON AND WEBER NICKELS, OF GALION, OHIO.

SPECIFICATION formingpart of Design No." 29,629, dated November 8, 1898;
Applicant nea october 17,1898. Serin No. 693.818. rem of patent 7 years.
To all whom it muy concern:
Be it known that we, RICHARD' ATKINSON and WEBER NICKELS, citizens of the United States, residing at Galion, in the county of Crawford and State of Ohio, have invented a new and original Design for W'rench-Jaws; and we do herebydeclare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a new and original design for a jaw of a pipe or other suitable wrench, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which-` Figure l is a side elevation of the jaw. Fig. 2 is a top plan view thereof.
As shown in said drawings, the jaw is of a uniform thickness throughout its length and may be divided into three portions-"the front portion or jaw A, the intermediate portion B, and the rear portion or arm C. The front portion A terminates in a blunt fiat end a, and its lower plane surface A' is serrated, as shown. The upper surface A2 of portion A curves gradually upward and backward to a point a2 and then suddenly curves downward to the concave surface b, forming tl'ie upper surface of the intermediate portion B, the lower surface of which is curved as an arc b' of a` circle beginning at the inner end of surface A' and described from a perforation B' in the center of said portion B, said arc b' terminating in an upwardly and rearwardly extending plane surface c', which is the lower surface of the arm or portion C, the upper surface c of which curves downward to the concave surface b, as shown. Said arm C is turned to one side at one end, forminga projection C' of uniform thickness and provided with a perforation therein, as shown at C2.
Having thus described our invention, what we therefore claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent thereon, isf;
