DESIGN FOR A CUP OR SIMILAR ARTICLE.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, JOHN WILLIAM HAN- LEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Cup or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in wl1ich Figure 1 is a plan view of a cup embodying the features of my design. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the cup, and Fig. 3 is a transverse section taken practically on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1.
The design relates particularly to such articles as tea or coflee cups, tumblers, &c. A circle appears in the bottom of the vessel, divided into sections a, and a representation of the sun, B, is located at the center of the said circle. The inner side surface of the vessel is decorated with panels 0, formed by the intersection of vertical lines a with circular horizontally-located lines 0, and in sundry of the panels pictorial figures D appear. Exteriorly the vessel is decorated with a series of panels E, which panels correspond in lo cation to the series of longitudinal interior panels.
The leading feature of the design consists in a cup or similar article interiorly decorated with a bottom panel and series of side panels grouped around the bottom panel.
