DESIGN FOR A FLAG OR BANNER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,052, dated July 19, 1898.
Application filed Juliol, 1898. Serial No. 682,297. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
lle it known that I, JOHN FREDERICK DUKE, a subject ofthe Queen of Great Britain, residing at London, England, have invented and produced a nenr and original Design for Flags or anners, of which the following is a speciication, reference being had to the aecompanyng drawing, forming part thereof.
The drawing is a face View of Iny design.
As shown in the drawing, the leading or material feature of my design consists of the representation of part of the national iag of the United States of America with a part of the Union Jack of Great Britain. The diagonal from a to b on the drawing divides said parts and constitutes, in fact, their line of Ineeting or contact, the portions above said line representing on e-half of the United States flag and the portions below said line representing one-half of the Union Jack. o represcnts the blue portion of the United States flag, and d d the stars on said portion. e c represent the red stripes, and f f the White stripes on same Ilan. g g represent the red portions, 7L` h the white portions, and 'i i the blue portions of the Union Jack. 7; represents the American eagle placed across said diagonal or meeting line a I. l is a heraldio lion also placed across said meeting line. The lion has one paw resting on a shield nl, which bears pictorial representations of a rose, a thistle, and a Shamrock. The wavinglines n, which extend along part of said meetingl lines a L, represent the Atlantic ocean, and p p are hands shown as meeting each other across said ocean. The lines n will generally be colored blue.
