UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VILLIAM F. SMITH, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
DESlGN FOR A SWITCHBOARD FOR TELEPHONE OPERATORS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,697, dated May 24, 1898.
Application filed April 13, 1898. Serial No. 677,502 Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, W'ILLIAM F. SMITH, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of the city and county of San Francisco, State of California, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Telephone-Operators Switchboards, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a perspective view of a switchboard for a telephone-station, showing my new design. Fig. 2 is a plan or top view of the same.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design consists of a standing frame composed of three panels a b c, disposed or arranged at an angle of about forty-five degrees or so as to form a threesided segment of an octagon. On the front of such panel or section of the three-part frame a shelf at extends horizontally outward from the front, and the three shelves or table-surfaces (1 d d follow the angular form of the frame a b c. The portion of each panel or member above the table dis composed of a section having a number of pigconholes or horizontal shelves divided by numerous upright partitions and a plain section f without pigeonholes.
An ornamental molding g is carried around the top of the three-panel frame at the front and is returned at the end to finish the same.
The back of each panel or section is usually carried down to the floor.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a telephone-operators switchboard as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand and seal.
