UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VILLIAM THOMPSON, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, ASSIG'NOR TO THE BUCKS S OVE AND RANGE COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR FIRE-BOX LINING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,290, dated February 15, 1898.
Application filed January 7,1898. Serial No. 665,986- Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM THonPsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and original Design for Firellox Lining, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which Figure l is a View in perspective of my new and original design for fire-box lining as seen from the front. Fig. 2 is a side elevational view of my new and original design as seen from the opposite side or from the rear, and Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view through the central portion of the lining.
This invention relates to a new and original design for fire-box linings; and it consists, generally stated, in the shape and ornamentation of the same, as will hereinafter be described.
The body portion of my newly-designed lining is formed on one of its faces with a so ries of transversely-disposed corrugations or flutes, which terminate in a sunken recess or groove extending practically the length of the concave face of the body portion. In the upper wall of this recess or groove are formed a series of openings, as shown in Fig. l. A rearwardly-extending flange extends from the top of the body portion, and a recessed portion extends practically the length of the rear or convex face, the lower wall of said recessed portion having a series of openings, between which are raised projections, as shown in Fig. 2. The recesses in the front and rear faces are 011 different planes, as shown in Fig. 3, the line of openings referred to practically piercing the bottom wall of the rear recess and the top wall of the front recess. In longitudinal section the lining is practically semicircular in shape.
Having thus described my new and original design, what I claim is The design for firebox lining substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto ailix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses, this 24th day of December, lSUF.
VILLIAM THOMPSON.
