HERMAN MACK, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A BICYCLE-COVER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,645, dated September 14, 1897.
Application filed June 28,1897. Serial No. 642,759. Term of' patent '7 years.
To all whom t may concern;
Be it known that I, HERMAN MACK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and orig nal Design for Bicycle-Covers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
This design relates to the configuration of a bicycle-cover, the accompanying drawing being a perspective View of a bicycle-cover embodying my design.
The distinctive feature of my design consists of the peculiar shape of the body portions of the cover and the depending liaps at the front ends of the body portions.
Referring to the drawing, A A represent the vertical side or body portions of the covering, each of which has substantially the form of a diamond, with its front point out away or truncated similar to the diamondshaped frame of a bicycle which it is intended to cover. The outline of each body portion consists of a substantially horizontal upper edge a, a substantially vertical front edge a', extending downwardly from its junction with the upper edge, an inclined lower edge a2, which extends rearwardly and downwardly from the lower end of the front edge, and two inclined rear edges a3 d4, which converge from the rear ends of the upper and lower edges a c2 and unito at their rear ends. The upper edges of both body portions are united along the central portions, and the end portions thereof are connected by fastenings B.
Each of the body portions is provided w1' th inwardlyprojectng flaps b between the point bat the junction of the converging rear edges a3 a4 and the upper and lower points b2 b3 at the junction of said rear edges with the upper and lower edges, said flaps being joined at their rear ends and decreasing in width from the point b' tothe upper and lower points h2 b3. The inclined rear edges a d* of both body portions are connected by fastenngs c, the lower edges a2 thereof are connected by fastenings d, and the front edges a' thereof are likewise connected by fastenings d'.
e e represent two depending flaps, which extend downwardly and forwardly in a slight curve from the lower front portions of the sides of the cover, so as to conform to the shape of the members of the front steeringfork of the bicycle which it is intended to cover. The lower ends of the depending curved flaps are provided with fastenings e'.
I claim as my invention- The design fora bicycle-cover substantially as herein shown and described.
\Vitness my hand this Qlth day of June,
HERMAN MACK. Witnesses:
