DESIGN FOR A CAN-OPENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,532, dated Aug-ust 17, 1897. Application filed June 24, 1397i Serial No. 642,200. Term of patent 7 years.
To @ZZ whom it may concern.-
Beit known that I, GEORGE MOLIDOE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Independence, in the county of Montgomery and State of Kansas, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design for Can- Openers; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and uso the same.
My invention relates to a design fora canopener.
It relates to the entire configuration of the can-opener.
My invention relates particularly to the design for a can-opener, as illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which the figure is a perspective view of a can-opener embodying my design.
The leading features of my design appear in the following description.
l represents the globular handle, and 2 the shank connecting said handle by an annular angular shoulder 3.
The shank 2 comprises the cylindrical basesection 4, formed With the parallel walls 5 5,
and the shank itself tapers gradually, while still preserving its cylindrical contour, from the base-section 4 to the shoulder 3.
AA series of diamond-pointed teeth 6 extend annularly about seven-eighths of the distance around the basesection,and they project longitudinally from the base-section, as shown, and are of uniform length, breadth, and thickness, as shown.v
A portion 7 of the base-section 4. is blank, as shown.
The teeth are each provided with beveled edges on each end, which extend from the point 8 to the heel 9.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Design Letters Patent of the United States, is-
'The design for a can-opener, substantially as herein shown and described.
