To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, CARRIE N. WOODLE, a citizen of the UnitedStates, residing at Fort Scott, in the county of Bourbon and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Non-Refillable Bottles;

and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention has reference to a novel construction in what are termed non-refillable bottles 5 and it consists in the features of construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and specifically claimed.

Referring now to said drawings, 1 indicates the neck of the bottle, having at its upper end the ring 2, that is connected to the end of the neck by a plurality of small frangible connecting-pins 3, said ring 2 and neck 1 being made in one piece and at the same time. In this way it will be seen that except Where these small connecting-pins 3 are situated there is an open space between the ring 2 and the end of the neck 1. The securing-cap 4. consists, essentially, of a disk 5, which is adapted to lie flat upon the ring 2, and a plurality of hooked arms 6, which are adapted to extend around the end of the ring, as shown. This cap is made of metal, so that it cannot be easily broken, and to permit the cap to be placed upon and around the rim one of the arms 6 is removable and adapted to move within a recess 7 in said cap. Within said recess 7 is a gib 8 to be pressed inwardly by a spring, and it is adapted to engage the notched inner end 9 of this removable arm 6. It will be apparent, therefore, that when placing the cap in position by first removing the arm the cap can be placed upon the ring with its hooked fingers engagingthe lower face of the ring and that then by sliding the inner end of the removable arm into the recess its hook will engage the ring and be locked securely by the spring-gib 8.

In use the bottle is filled and corked in the ordinary manner, and after being thus corked this sealing-cap is applied, so that when it is desired to open the bottle it is necessary to break the ring 2 from the bottle, which can be readily accomplished by the use of any suitable tool or by twisting the cap, Whereupon the cork can be removed in the usual manner. It will thus be seen that the bottle as provided will effectually prevent its unlawful use a second time, for, in the first place, the broken neck of the bottle will indicate that it has been used a second time, and, further, a suitable trade-mark could be applied to the ring, which being removed would be a second warning.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. A bottle having a ring secured to the neck thereof by small connecting-pins, and a sealing-cap secured upon said ring by arms having their end portions situated between said ring and end of the neck of the bottle, substantially as described.

2. A bottle having a ring secured to the neck thereof by small connecting-pins, in combination with a cap having a plurality of stationary arms and a removable arm adapted to be securely locked to said cap, said arms and end portions being situated between said ring and the end of the neck of the bottle, substantially as described.

3. The combination with a bottle having a ring secured thereto by small connecting-pins, of a cap having a plurality of hooked arms, a recess in said cap, a locking device within said recess, and an arm having an engaged end portion adapted to enter said recess, substantially as described.
