SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,858, dated March 30, 1897.

To all whont it may concern:
zen of the United States, residing at Michigan 'ty, in the county of La Porto and State of Indiana, have invented and produced a new and original Design for (anc Fabric, of which the following is a specification, and which is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, showinga face viewof a small piece of fabric with my design applied.
Cane fabric containing my design has alternate close-woven and open-mesh stripes A and B, to the former of which is applied two parallel chain-shaped figures. Each stripe A is made up of a series of parallel strips a, arranged close together and divided up into short lengths or sections a by a series of crossstrips a and each stripe has applied to it two parallel chain-shaped figures a3, running parallel with the strips a. Each stripe B has a series of pairs olstrips I), which form continuations of the CFOSS-Sil'lpS w, and which, with the strips running at right angles with them and the diagonal strips b, form a series of polygonal figures i1". Everyalternaie diagonal strip 1) is colored or striped.
The leading feature of my design is the alternatclyarranged closeavoven and openmesh stripes, each of the former of which contains two longitudinally arranged chainshaped figures.
I claim- The design for cane fabric substantially as herein shown and described.
