Description

Dl2-18. OR D 269807 EX DESIGN.
W. R. CONNOR CARRIAGE BODY. No. 26.807. Patented Mar. 23,1897.
5 C) R q 15m V/ /M UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VILLIAM R. CONNOR, OF YONKERS, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A CARRIAGE-BODY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,807, dated March 23, 1897.
Application filed June 29, 1896. Serial No. 597,471. Term of patent '7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
le it known that I, WILLIAM RICHARD UoN- NOR, a citizen of the United States, residing at.
Yonkers, in the county of Westchester and State of New York, have invented and produced a novel and original Design for Can riage-Bodies, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a vertical elevation showing my invention as applied to the side of a carriagebody. Fig. 2 is a vertical elevation showing my invention as applied to the back of a carriage-body.
The leading feature of my design consists in the absolutely plain and smooth surfaces inclosed by moldings, (indicated by B and (3,) as viewed in Fig. 1, and surface D, as shown in Fig.
Heretofore it has been customary to apply moldings of various forms to the surfaces 13, C, and D for the purpose of separating them into planes of different areas.
B is the door-panel,inc10sed by the lines 4, 5, 6, and '7, of any desired width and depth and whose contour is formed on the sides by the vertical lines a and 6, forming right angles with the top line 5, and the bottom line 7, forming curved angles with the lines 4 and 6.
O is the surface of the quarter-panel, surrounded by moldings of which the lines 8, 9, and 10 are the inner outlines.
D is the surface of the back panel, inclosed by the moldings, as shown, of which the lines 11, 12, 13, and 14 are the inner edges.
The surfaces B, C, and D have the usual curve in their height and Width that is customary with this description of carriage-bod y and are placed sufficiently below the plane of the moldings by which they are inclosed to allow of any formation of contour to the moldings when viewed in cross-section, the whole presenting undecorated surfaces forming a novel and original effect.
W hat I claim is The design for a carriage-body herein shown and described comprising the plain, smooth and undecorated surfaces 13, O, and D.
In witness whereof I have signed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
W. R. CONNOR.
Witnesses:
A. S. BASSETT, JNo. E. WALTZ.
