DESIGN FOR A PLATE FOR TRANSOM-LIGHTS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 25,716, dated June 30, 1896.
Application filed April 6,1896 Serial No. 586,455. Term of patent 7 years.
T (1Z6 whom, it may COlt-UOI'JL:
lie it known that T, Sims S. 13m HsIIAW, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of .lhmlklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Pivot-Plates for 'lransom-Lights, Reversible-Sash \Vindows, and other Like Structures, of which the following is a specification, reference beiughad to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 is an elevation of the pivot-plates, showing my design. In this figure the two plates are represented as swiveled into the position where they lie one on top of the other. Fig. 2 illustrates an elevation of the same, the two plates beingswivcled on the central pivot, so that they lie at an angle to each other.
The leading feature of my design consists in making the pivot-plates of oblong form, and having circular or rounded ends and sides composed of arcs of circles, the centers whereof are all upon the same longitudinal line.
In the drawings, A illustrates one of the pivot-plates; A, the other. 1% is the pivot which connects them and. upon which. the 25 swivel, and (I C (l G are the sercw-holes whereby the plates may be attached to res pective parts of the structure with which they are used.
The design, as above stated, consists in giv- 3o ing to the ends of each plate a circular outline, as shown at a a, and the portionsbetween the ends are given a lateral outline in the form of aresof circles, the centers whereof are in line with the centers of the circles compos- 55 ing the ends. The several arcs of the circles composing the entire structure intersect each other, as shown.
The optical eli'eet of my design is that of an oblong plate or structure having scalloped 4o
