DESIGN FOR A CANDLE-HOLDER AND PENDANT.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,548, dated August 13, 1895.

Application filed June 22, 1896. Serial No. 553,717- Term of patent 7 years.

Be it known that I, CHARLES DOUGLAS WIN- FIELD, a citizen of the'United States, residing in Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State 5 of New York, have invented or produced a new and original Design for Candle-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This design relates particularly to candle- .lOldGIS of the class having a holder at top, a

o hooked stem, and a counterbalancing-weight, such holders being hung upon a support and maintained in the upright position by the weight.

The new design is illustrated in the accom- 5 panying drawing, which is a perspective view of a candle-holder having the new design.

Referring to the drawing, the holder has a top member A, a part B extending therefrom downwardly, and a pendant or body at the 0 lower end of the part B. The top memberA has a plurality of flat upright separated projections a and a plurality of concave or corrugated outwardly and upwardly extending wings I) opposite the spaces between the projections (L, a fiat or concave bottom 0 within the wings and projections, substantially parallel spaces at between the wings,'and upright spaces 6 between the projections. It has the appearance of a circular irregular star-shaped o figure.

The part B is an elongated member of cylindrical cross-section having a curved part f extending in substantially a half-circle beneath the part A, a straight downwardly-e 5 tending part g of considerable length extending from this curve to the part 0, a straight downwardly and laterally inclined part h extending from the other side of the curve downwardly a short distance, a small reverse curve at the lower end of this part, and a straight upwardly-extending part parallel with the part g extending from the curve 1' upwardly under one of the wings I) and through and above this wing.

The part 0 at the lower end of the part B has an elongated bulbous shape, with a relatively smooth upper end 7c approximating in its general contour a hemisphere, and a tapering and contracting lower end Z, approaching substantially to a point at bottom. On the end k are small roughenings m, gradually increasing in size and leading into large roughenings n extending down the body with increasing projection to the point Z.

The holder and pendant embodying the new design have a pleasing appearance to the eye, the part A presenting the appearance of a light fragile upper member, the part O a graceful tapering pendant, and the part B a slender intermediate strand.

\Vhat I claim is- The design for a candle holder and pendant substantially as shown and described.
