Description

AU 291 Ex DESIGN.
E. L. BEARSE.
BURNER.
Patented Feb. 6, 1.894.
LII
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EPIIRAIM L. BEARSE, OF BROOKLYN, NElV YORK.
DESIGN FOR A BURNER.
10 all? whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EPHRAIM L. BEARsE, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings, State of New York, have originated and produced a Design for a Burner or Similar Article, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification.
The essential features of my present design are the hand like configuration extending up from a sleeve-like base and with the fingers clasped around a downwardly extending fluted stern of a flamboyant torch, the representation of the latter being completed by the fluted dish orsaucer configuration with the spiral configuration representing an upwardly leaping flame.
In the accompanying illustration the hand A is represented as a right hand, with the fingers clasped partially around a tapered and fluted torch stein B. This stem is exposed throughout itslength, terminates at the bottom in a rounded knot or ornamentation C, and is surmounted byasaucer or dish-shape configuration D, fluted spirally on the under side. The upwardlyleaping flame representation D is given a spiral configuration terminating in pointsd at the top. The stem of the torch is further ornamented by diagonal crossed bands E representing rihhon wound about the same.
The details of the design render it very harmonious and pleasing, the position of the hand being such as toindicate that the torch is held lightly and easily, as contradistinguished from a grip which would give the design a hard, firm character.
lVhat I claim is The design for a burner herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
