Description

PATENTED' FEB. 11 1908.
A. A. ANGUS.
COMB.
APPLICATION FILED NAILS, 190s.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANNA A. ANGUS, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO HELEND. ELWELL, OF
NEW YORK, N. Y.
COMB.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 1 1, 1908.
To all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I, ANNA A. ANeUs, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Combs, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide an article of this class which will securely hold the hair and at the same time provide means for holding a switch which will be held by lugs concealed by the hair so that the switch and hair may be blended when the hair is made up into a coil or otherwise. This object is accomplished by my invention one embodiment of which is hereinafter disclosed.
For a more particular description of my invention reference is to be had to the ac companying drawings forming a part hereof, in which,
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing my improved comb, in the hair of a womans head. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of my improved comb.
Throughout the various views of the drawings, similar reference characters designate similar parts.
The comb 1 contains the usual teeth 2 and rim 3. Extending upwardly from the rim 3 is a perforated extension 4 which may be given any suitable shape and near its perforation it is provided with suitable lugs 5,
shown above and below the perforation, but it is obvious that they may be given any suitable location as desired. Nor is their exact form material, provided they are made small so as to be concealed and capable of holding the cord or wire on the end of a switch.
In Fig. 1 this comb is shown inserted in the hair 6 of a womans head. A twist of hair 7 is brought through the perforation in the extension 4 of the comb 1 and a switch 8 has the loop at its upper end engaging a lug 5. The switch 8 and twist are then blended together in any desired manner and held by any suitable means.
The preferred use of my invention is to twist the hair and switch together about the extension 4 to form a coil. However, this is not essential as my improved comb may be usedin many ways.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is A head-dress device consisting of a comb having an extension extending upwardly from its rim approximately midway the ends of the comb, said extension having a ring at its upper end and said ring being provided with a lug extending forwardly from the face of the ring.
Signed this 28th day of Febry, 1906.
. ANNA A. ANGUS.
