BRU
SPECIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 680,394, dated August 13, 1901.
Application filed January 15, 1901. Serial No. 43,369. (No model.)
To all whom it may con/cern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE PAvLIK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Brushes, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to produce a brush which shall be strong, light, and durable, of neat appearance, and capable of being thoroughly cleansed without injury to the same.
The invention consists of a brush the handle of which is composed entirely of sheet metal, said handle being preferably in three parts, one part forming the holder for the bristles of said brush, another part forming the handle thereof, and the third part forming a cap to which is attached the Wire by means of which the brush is hung up.
Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved brush; and Fig. 2 is a section taken on line 2 2, Fig. l.
Like numerals refer to like paris throughout both views of the drawings.
In the drawings the bristles 5 are held together inside the holder 6 by the cord or Wire 7 and further by the said holder, which is clamped upon said bristles at 8 8 and holds them firmly secured together. The holder 6 is Hat or elliptical at the portion 8, but is formed in a cylindrical shape at the top or shank portion 9 thereof and has a bead 10 formed upon said shank, which engages a like bead 11, formed upon one end of the cylindrical sheet-metal handle 12. The handle' 12 has another bead 13 formed at the upper` end thereof to engage a bead let on the cap 15, which forms the top or end of said handle.
Two holes 16 are punched in the cap 15 before it is attached to the handle 12 and a Wirel 1. A brush, comprising bristles, a sheetmetal holder therefor, clamped thereon, said holder having a cylindrical shank, a cylindrical sheet-metal handle, fast at one end to said cylindrical shank, a cap fast to the other end of said cylindrical handle and a Wire 17 with bent end portions 18, said end portions inserted in holes 16 in said cap.
2. A brush, comprising bristles,- a sheetmetal holder therefor, clamped thereon, said holder having a cylindrical shank, a cylindrical sheet-metal handle, fast to said shank by a bead 10 formed upon said holder-shank and engaging a bead 11 formed upon one end of said cylindrical handle.
3. A brush, comprising bristles, a sheetlnetal holder therefor, clamped thereon, said holder having a Acylindrical shank, a cylindrical sheet-metal handle fast at one end to said cylindrical shank, by a bead 10 formed upon said holder-shank and engaging a bead 11 formed upon one end of said cylindrical handle; and a cap fast to the other end of said handle by a bead 14 thereon, which engages a bead 13 on said handle.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
GEORGE PAVLIK.
