To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLOTTE WnNz- LICK, a citizen of the United States, residin at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented a certain new and useful Hair-Holder, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a hair dressing device and has particular reference to a holder for hair, either natural or artificial, an object of this invention being to provide a device for containing and holding curls, puffs and other hair formations to add to the attractiveness of the coiifure and give the appearance of an abundance of hair, without causing discomfort to the wearer.

Another object of this invention is to pro vide a simple, efficient and light contrivance which may be quickly and neatly adjusted and which, when once in position, will remain in place until removed by the user.

With these and other objects in view, this invention consists of the features and details set out in the accompanying specification in connection with the drawing, and then more specifically pointed out in the claims.

In the drawing, Figure 1, is a plan view, illustrating a plurality of holders, embodying my invention, in conjoined relation. Fig. 2, is a perspective view of one of the holders, and Fig. 3 ,is a perspective view showing the manner of attaching the pufis or curls, and also showing some of the curls or puffs in applied form.

The invention consitss of a member A, comprising a strand of wire, bent upon itself to forms two branches 1 and 2, and at one end substantially a U portion 3, for purposes to appear hereinafter. The free ends of the branches 1 and 2 are twisted together and terminate in a hook 4. The branch 1, preferably intermediate its length, is bent upon itself to form an eyelet 5, and the branch 2, preferably intermediate its length is formed with a hook 6, for engagementwith the eyelet of a complementary unit, as shown in Fig. 1.

Cooperating with said member A, is a member C, comprising a single strand of wire bent upon itself to form a loop 7, through which extends the aforementioned U portion 3, of said strand A, and on which said member 0 is hinged. The member C is preferably bowed in any desired arc, accord- G'opies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the ing to the height required by the user, and the strand of which it is composed terminates in substantially a U portion 8, which, engaging under the hook A of the member A, holds the same in position.

In practice, the curls, puffs or other forms of hair, are applied to the member C, as shown in Fig. 3, this member being first removed from its position under the hook 1-. The member A, which may be shaped to conform to the head, is then inserted in the hair, which holds the same in place and against accidental displacement and loss. The member C, with the curls or puffs thereon, is then pressed under the hook a, in which position the said member is secured while the hair thereon completely hides the device from view. Obviously the device may be used singly or conjointly with others, as shown in Fig. 1, where this is desired.

What I claim, is

1. A holder comprising a strand of wire bent upon itself at one end to form substantially a U portion, the other ends of said wire being twisted together and terminating in a hook, one branch of said strand having an eyelet and the other branch having a hook, and a hair holding member hingedly connected with said U portion and engaging the hook of said strand.

2. A holder comprising a strand of wire bent upon itself at one end to form a U portion and at the other end to form a hook, one branch of said strand having intermediate its length an eyelet and the other branch having intermediate its length a hook, and. a bowed member hingedly connected with the U portion of said first named member and arranged to be held in place by the hook of said strand.

3. A holder comprising a hair engaging member having intermediate its length an eyelet and a hook, and on one end thereof a hook, and a bowed member hingedly connected with one end of said member and arranged to be held in place by the hook on said first named member.
