DESIGN FOR A JEWEL-SETTING.
PEG'IFICATION f m g part of Design No. 22,797, dated September 26, 1893.
Application filed August 16, 1893- Serial No. 483,306 Term of patent 7 years.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, MAURICE L. POWERS and JOSHUA W. MAYER, citizens of the United States, residing at the city of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Jewel-Setting for Ear-Rings or other Articles, as herein shown and described, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure 1, is aplan or face view (greatly enlarged) of a jewel setting embodying our design, and Fig. 2, is a side view thereof.
The leading features of our design consist in the form and configuration of the jewel setting, said setting consisting, of a series of clamps arranged to encircle the central stone, and each ornamented by a jewel or jewels, the clamps extending downward and outward from their support, and increasing in width laterally toward their outer ends, and being of ornamental outline conforming to the sides of the jewels carried by them, substantially as illustrated in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this application.
In the drawings A designates the central stone; B the series of encircling clamps ornamented by jewels C; and D the support for said clamps. The clamps B describe a circle of which the stone A is the center, and said clamps conform in outline with each other; each closely encompassing and forming a frame around the jewel carried by it. The size of the clamps B Wlll depend on the size of the stone A, the proportions harmonizing with each other to produce an artistic starlike eifect.
\Vhat we claim is The design for a setting for ear-rings and other articles, substantially as shown and described.
Signed at the city of New York, in theconnty and State of NowYork, this 8th day of August, 1893.
